Flo is growing access to wrestling for people who are already fans.
Whether they are bringing in new fans is arguable.  I tend to say no....as they end up restricting access to matches that might otherwise be free to watch.

    Constructive criticism. Not complaining.
Holy smokes. It's fine to put content behind paywall. It's understandable for Flo and for real journalism outlets to put content behind paywall. However Flo's model sucks.
Flo has yearlong lock-in. Flo has history of godawful customer service. Flo has boorish personnel -- folks who resort to sarcasm or other defiance rather than just improving!
You think those things work well to "grow the sport"?! Some of those things may well turn away diehards (not just casual fans). Flo can get more subscribers -- if only it would just make fewer mistakes.
Flo personnel defend status quo, talk about red herrings such as The American Way (lol) and ESPN being nonfree and Flo churning out myriad "articles". Flo proponents talk about good content, good catalog. Flo detractors talk about reliability, professionalism, and pricing. Everyone's talking past one another.
Flo may well be the best option right now. But still Flo can do much better!

I think FLO is expensive but is the best value option for watching wrestling.
But you can't give FLO credit for using someone else's stream and say they cover 99% of the teams, but then absolve them from issues originating in someone else's stream.  They either get credit and blame for what they broadcast or they don't.  They can't be credited for covering OSU through and OSU stream, but then simultaneously not responsible for the OSU stream.

Man if Desanto gets held out today can we officially remove Tom Ryan’s name and replace it with Terry Brands on THE DUCK COACH of NCAA wrestling? This is getting ridiculous. Again that’s if Desanto is held out today...

BobbyGribbs reacted to dpd926 in 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championship Tickets Thread (Requests, etc.: Merged Topics)
The biggest difference this year seems to be in the number of tickets requested by teams, which is typically 10,000 but swelled to 25,000 this year. No doubt that the top teams requested more tickets but all of the teams had to have requested more this year for team demand to increase 150% over "normal". If demand among teams was that much greater this year, you have to think that demand among general fans was similar. It makes sense - more NCAA Qualifiers are from PA and OH than any other areas in the country. I doubt that there is any high school wrestling room in either of those two states that is more than a 6-hour drive from PPG Paints Arena. Many of those PA- and OH-native sons qualifiers graduate from college and stay in-state to live and coach. Thus, the greatest concentration of former college DI wrestlers in area of the country is most likely within a 300-mile radius of Pittsburgh. It should be no surprise that demand for tickets this year is at an unprecedented level.
Different arenas have different seating capacities depending on the event set-up. Since a hockey rink is a standard size, it seems like seating capacity for this event is the most appropriate unit of comparison. Here are some US arenas and their seating capacity for hockey (source: Wikipedia “List of ice hockey arenas by capacity”)
    United Center, Chicago: 19,717
Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia: 19,537 (2011 host)
Little Caesars Arena, Detroit: 19,515 (2022 host)
    Enterprise Center, St. Louis: 19,150 (host in 2017, 2015, 2012, 2009)
    KeyBank Center, Buffalo: 19,070
Quicken Loans Arena, Cleveland: 18,924 (2018 host)
    PNC Arena, Raleigh: 18,680
    American Airlines Center, Dallas: 18,532
Capital One Arena, Washington, DC: 18,506
PPG PAINTS ARENA, PITTSBURGH: 18,387 (2019 host)
    Staples Center, Los Angeles: 18,230
    Nationwide Arena, Columbus: 18,144
Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul: 18,064
Chesapeake Energy Arena, Oklahoma City: 18,036 (2014 host)
    Pepsi Center, Denver: 18,007
Madison Square Garden, New York City: 18,006
    TD Garden, Boston: 17,565
    T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas: 17,500
Gila River Arena, Glendale AZ: 17,125
    Bridgestone Arena, Nashville: 17,113
    BOK Center, Tulsa: 17,096
    Prudential Center, Newark:16,514
    Barclays Center, Brooklyn: 15,813
Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines: 15,581 (2013 host)
PPG Paints Arena is a bit smaller than some of the other recent- and upcoming- hosts, but not egregiously smaller. Demand for tickets is just that much greater this year.

The issue with St. John’s is the pipes under it. It has a large hub for much of the steam for the University. For years they have talked about tearing it down, but it is a planning part. There won’t be any sports left in there. Few offices and training facilities

Really enjoy watching the small private schools like Lehigh, Cornell, Harvard, Bucknell, etc.. due to their combination of academics and athletics. West Point, Naval Academy & Air Force are easy to cheer for because when they have an AA it's a true AA.  No redshirting, academics are a must and they still have to be great in athletics but they must also participate in the military aspect of the school.  Those young men & women that attend one of the military academies are truly special individuals.

BobbyGribbs reacted to Old Corps in Steveson’s Behavior
As I said in the Bo Nickal thread, our sport needs less UFC/WWE antics.
Steveson is very talented, but he's setting himself up for a fall and that fall will come eventually.
I agree that his behavior of 4:10 is disrespectful and if I was the ref, I'd have hit him for such.
This kid is going to have to realize that he's going to face a lot of opponents who clam up and just try to keep the score close on him. This is what happens to most of the dominant wrestlers (Dake, Steiber, Retherford, etc.)  - most opponents won't really open up against them for fear of being completely dominated. He needs to let the ref handle opponents who are stalling.
Also, he seems to think it is ok to do things that demean or insult an opponent. Somewhere along the line he was taught this was ok, or he started doing it on his own and his coaches allowed him to do it. I'd say that his behavior will become even worse as he becomes more frustrated with lesser opponents or if he's actually trying to become a WWE-style "villian." It's only a matter of time that public sentiment starts to go against him in a big way, including many Minny fans who will eventually think (I wish he wouldn't act like that) and the refs start calling him out quickly for anything that comes even close to crossing the line of acceptable behavior and sportsmanship.
In his defense, he's very young and his maturity doesn't yet match his incredible level of talent.
If ever there was a situation in which coaches and mentors should get heavily involved in shaping an athlete's attitude and behavior as much as his actual wrestling ability and technique, this is one.
    He needs leadership.
If he gets it and responds well to it, I believe Steveson could become one of the best ever in our sport.
    I'm truly hoping this happens.
