He needs Rosseli again. Badly. I talked about this on another thread. But watch his film in 2015 and 2016. Then you can watch a gradual regression since Rosseli left. Everything from shot selection to match management.
Hes started to get some of his good habits under Cael again.. BUT. He gives all the signs of being burned out to me. It’s hard to describe, it’s based off my experience coaching. But a bunch of little things in his demeanor; how he’s wrestling, his body language, facial expressions. Idk how to specifically articulate it. But he gives off all the same red flags as that stud who’s cut weight all season who burns out and takes a weird ass loss in the post season. Shocking to outsiders, but if you look at the coaches.. you can tell they saw it coming and were hoping they were wrong. That kinda thing.

No. He beat Gadson last they wrestled and tends to always do better the 2nd time he wrestles someone.
Even with Zillmer he's done progressively better each time.

Just watched the 74kg. Massa looking sharp. I want to see him vs Nolf or IMAR.

and it’s so nice to see someone hit a head in the hole properly. I highly doubt many of his teammates shoot low on him lol

Just looked it up, 8-6 Gable. But iirc, that score was closer than the actual result (yeah, that makes sense).
What I mean is, I thought Gable won handily and looked fantastic that match. Looking for a barnburner next time and won't be surprised to see one of these 2 guys win the spot.

Really BJ was only arguing with you because you fed him.
Leave him alone and BLAMMO. Suddenly you don't have to defend simple logic.

Fair. If you think that. It’s fine.

I would ask though. Has Snyder seemed more and more “off” to you the last couple of years? If  you don’t think so. Okie dokie. To me he has.
Have you coached or been teammates with studs who got burned out and took weird losses or injuries? Especially in the postseason. Like in the practice room with them I mean.

If you think I have my large head up my ass... well darn. But I would like to know what specific points you disagree with.

Thank you. HEW sums it up better than my long a$$ loquacious ramble post. It really does come across to me as HEW way more than being scouted. His demeanor, intensity, and body language are what I’m looking at.

absolutely agree about the guys with longevity. Especially given Most of their styles.

And seriously thank you for actually reading the post and responding even though you mostly disagree. Rather than get offended or emotional.

Anyone actually watching saw the way Snyder went out of bounds on that exchange. His leg caught in a way many injuries happen. I immediately thought it was his knee when it happened. Hopefully it’s ankle because I want him or Cox repping.
Like many things in life. Many things can be true at the same time. If one actually watched the sequence.. Snyder for sure tweaked his ankle or knee... AND Gadson was wrestling extremely well. Snyder probably tried to keep going because he’s been smashing Gadson so effectively of late. When Gadson kept wrestling well he probably wasn’t too keen on dealing with it. So medically forfeiting wasn’t that hard for a decision for a meaningless match.
Between the Taylor injury at BTS and Snyder getting hurt. I highly doubt many Nittany Lions will be entering tournaments they don’t have to and only doing stuff directly run by their club. Now do “I” personally like this no. I want to see the best competing. That doesn’t change the strategery of guys like Carl lol.
*And wrestling dads who take practice too seriously. Who always seem to be people who never wrestled or quit in high school.. there is a difference between practice live intensity and tournament intensity.... I know your type likes to talk about being “tuff”. But please understand it’s kinda hard to take you talking about being “tuff” serial.

I don't think its revisionism at all.  It's not like Taylor just grew a few inches between seasons.  After another unsuccessful attempt at making the team at 74, he specifically went on a weight gaining program to move up to 86.  It was a specific, committed, intent....to move up from 74.

God bless. The lengths people go to use code when talking about Burroughs or diminish him with crap like because the meanie unfair system. Is honestly just.. exasperating at this point.

Don’t try to nitpick or quibble what I just said. Don’t fake ignorance of what I mean. I’m not going to grandstand or virtue signal. You can disagree but don’t get in wad about it.
And while I do think Dake was quicker on the draw verbally.. most of his “trash talk” was whiny whine voice complaining about the meanie system. Oh and he was trying to “call out Burroughs and told him to go through the trials as well.. after he blatantly abused the sitting team member bye to postpone the Ringer wrestle off. So. Much. Whining.
2020 has made me sick of hypocrisy and whiners. And both sides of the spectrum are being whiners. Irregardless of where your beliefs lie.. if you don’t see all of squawking, grandstanding and petty whining over everything.. you’re either genuinely stupid or being intellectually dishonest.
point being. They Ran from Burroughs. It’s his weight. And I don’t think many realize how actually impressive what he’s done.. actually is.. especially at 74kg.

I’m originally from Ohio and I don’t disagree. My only caveat is that I think is what has happened since Rosseli left. When Rosseli was there, there was definite technical development and way more “program products”

I know a couple younger (early 20s) people who are on the freestyle reffing ladder. Whenever I watch matches with them, they get extremely frustrated about how older refs aren’t held to the same standards, or expected to have the same consistency, and don’t call situations correctly. And how the old guard definitely play favorites (and other accusations).
They all cannot wait until Sam Julian takes over. And it’s especially frustrating because other countries (including Russia) have expressed jealousy of the US having the most thorough and standardized referee training and advancement program.. BUT once you get to the senior level with the entrenched old time officials, it looks like we’re just as bad, inconsistent and biased as the other countries refs

It’s a weird problem with wrestling culture in the US. The dad coaching directly leads to burnout and kids peaking too soon and having limited tool sets. It also leads directly to a system where if 10/100 kids who startEd in elementary wrestling, wrestle more than 2 years of high school, it’s an anomaly.

I don’t know a single College wrestling coach who likes the system, or does it with their own kids .but they have to recruit those kids to keep their jobs. And dads like those are what fuel the new wrestling economy of the last 10 years or so.

It’s why I don’t care about whether or not they switch the styles, (I would benefit as a coach from a switch, I’m not anti freestyle) even if we switch to freestyle, there will be just as much overtraining, overcompeting and burnout as there was before. None of the underlying issues would be addressed much less solved. That same person I talked about earlier was like “no there’d be less burnout cause look at how the Russians and Europeans train”. Just because the style changed doesn’t mean parents will magically change how they coach or handle their little “stud”. It also wouldn’t change how the competition is set up.

The point of my ramble is. That dad coach culture is one of biggest reasons I’m genuinely worried about the survival of the sport. Especially because I’ve found they are the ones who are most active and vocal in preventing necessary changes. But that’s a whole different discussion

I just listened to a dad coach who fancies himself a freestyle guy.. say Bekzod looked like a folkstyle guy trying to wrestle freestyle in the first few seconds before any exchange.., and didn’t know he was a multi time senior medalist. God I hate youth wrestling culture
