The official nut butter sponsor of USA Wrestling. Love to see it: https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Wrestling/Features/2021/June/24/USA-Wrestling-partners-with-Fokken-Nuts
I've loved seeing all the "Nike Athlete" lines in many national team members' bios on the internet, but can't wait to see "Fueled by Fokken" at the top of their Instagram pages. Exciting times, indeed

The only PAC 12 school that I see bringing back wrestling is Oregon.  Whether or not that will in fact occur in the next five years I don't know.  But it's the only PAC 12 school IMO who even has a chance of bringing back wrestling.   They paid for a brand new wrestling room and all it is doing is collecting dust (as far as I know).  Secondly they have an extremely wealthy benefactor (Phil Knight) who could fund a wrestling program all by himself - as well as a number of Oregon alums who would and could help foot the bill.
Does ASU maintain itself?  Sure - as long as they have their current coaching staff.
The PAC 12 program that I see as being "on the rise" however is Cal Poly.  I mentioned here a couple years ago that I thought Cal Poly was beginning to become a much improved program and they have continued to do that.  They finished the 2021 season in 25th place at the N.C.A.A. tournament which is pretty respectable for a team that was pretty much the last place team in the PAC 12 for quite a while.  They also finished 4th at the 2021 PAC 12 tournament with 107 team points (8 1/2 points behind Stanford).  That is the highest team placement Cal Poly has had in 11 years in the PAC 12 tournament.  PLUS they are a young team.  They had zero Seniors on their team roster for 2021.  Coach Sioredas and his two assistant coaches have to be credited for the improvement.

Cal Poly has been on the up - Even though they were 4th in the Pac 12 they wrestled everyone tough and had a good national tournament.   Sioredas has been there 5 years now and seems to get a couple good recruits every year. They just established some new fundraising as well. They have another kid on the verge of AA in Legend Lamer. Keep in mind that Cal Poly is also a good academic school, with a 25-28% acceptance rate - it's not Stanford but it's also not your average state school either.

I think we all need to be very clear in that these individuals that we are referencing; we are referencing based on their performance first as "kids", but how they "flopped" as an "adult".  These are men when they get to college.  Calling them kids is a nice, nostalgic way to reference those that are younger than us, but the reality is, once they turn 18, they are no different than the MEN that are fighting overseas, taking bullets for their brethren.  These are men, and no longer "kids".
If we "feel" that they are still "kids", then that opens the door to a whole bunch of other topics and conversations, not worth going into (drinking age, combat age, neurological age, etc.).  I find it disingenuous that the moral equivalency fails and the usage of the term "men" vs. "kids" only comes into play when it's potentially negative (i.e. "they're just kids still") vs. positive (i.e. Kyle Snyder is the MAN for winning his World Championships while 18/19).
Let's all agree that if they're 18+, they're men, by legal definition, and treat them as such.  The selective "coddling" ought to stop.

Ahhhh yeah. I remembered  Criticizing officials is naughty. A truly sacrosanct position.

I suppose any bad calls or corruption is automatically coaches making excuses. I wish I had that much of a get out of jail free card

I respect officials btw. But the whole martyring of them to avoid criticism truly irks me.especially when corruption in international is well established

I’d probably be more okay with the “skepticism” if the majority of the people I know pushing it hadn’t peaked in high school

I'm taking recovery from the injury into my evaluation, but his performance while injured does not factor into my thoughts at all. I am hopeful that he will be 100% healthy next year and our view on him as a wrestler is all about ability and not at all about whether his shoulder stays in place.
