  1. I had to peek at his twitter. A little odd to say the least
  2. Mark Schultz used to post here all the time some years back as Martial.
  3. After following wrestling for the better part of 30 years, I have learned there are few locks and even fewer now.
  4. Men's freestyle I believe 7 is being too generous. So many intangibles such as an off match, officiating, and pairing lends itself to too much uncertainty. The US men will win 5 or 6 medals and only 1 gold, possibly zero. Dake is the more likely gold winner as long as he is healthy. Burroughs is a good shot at finals but has lost a step or three. Snyder had been solved by Sadulaev. Gwiz is a sold bronze maybe silver. J'Den Cox has gold in him again but is beatable. I really hope to be wrong.

  6. The Schultz comparison shows how little you know about Schultz.
  7. I believe the snark is derived from the fact beach wrestling is a contrived event that was riding the coattails of beach volleyball.
  8. The Olympics should be disbanded. Countries pay millions in bribes to host the event, billions in infrastructure to accomodate various venues with little positive economic impact to the host cities. In the process ordinary citizens are displaced. The Olympics had outlived its usefulness
  9. Anyone know when the Yianni/Zain match is?
  10. It will never happen again. There is not a strong enough viewership to demand 10 weight classes. The politics of the Olympics are really complicated, but it is driven mostly by tv revenue.
  11. Booooring! Forgive my ambivilence but this year I just don't care if he medals or not.
  12. It wall go to 3 matches, 2 will be decided on criteria and all 3 will have bricks thrown by both sides.
  13. As with Yianni/Zane, the longer the delay, the less interested I am in the final outcome.
  14. Mark Branch was listed as 6'4". Not sure if that is real but he looked the part. Still my favorite wrestling story with an 8 and 9 record going in as a freshman and winning the damn thing.
  15. 2019 will be known as the year of clustef*cks for USAW.
  16. Where in the rules does it allow for delays? I have no rooting interest in this.
  17. Injuries are part of the sport. If you get hurt, it should be next man (or woman) up. Dake is hurt, take the year, get healthy and let's see what Dieringer can do.
  18. As much time as they can afford. Cross cultural training whether them coming here or one of our athletes going there is always a good idea.
  19. Our local high school does that all the time, but the coach does that on purpose to shake up practice so they aren't getting stale practicing each other.
  20. Any timetable for arbitration? If today is only the hearing, I doubt a decision is made today.
  21. I have no dog in this fight and care very little who goes. I am more concerned with cleaning up the process. Zain/Diakomihalis has the potential to put the same stain as Lewis/Smith and Sieracki/Lindland. In fact it probably already has.
  22. Are we placing bets on the arbitration outcome?
  23. Wrestling is an individual sport with very loose team affiliations at the international level. Once you get can get over that whole team concept, things get easier to tolerate.
  24. "How strict do you think this is enforced? In 1992, John Smith wrestled with a staph infection and Kenny Monday subluxed his elbow in training camp. Think they should have "stepped aside".
