LCpl Schmuckatelli reacted to cem5202 in Average poster age
I'm 31 and while I don't post often, I do come to this site 4-6 days a week. During the off season, I make it to international board 1-2 days a week. I feel like I know a lot of you pretty well, even though most of you probably don't remember me ever posting. I have been coming here for about 12-13 years. I started when I was in college and a kid i went to HS with was wrestling for PSU. That all being said, I think the handle Lurker might apply to me better than it does Lurker.

LCpl Schmuckatelli reacted to Broomstick in Average poster age
I am 47 and have been posting, sporadically, since around 2005 or 2006 I think (with a few variations of this handle due to forgetting login info). Dustin Schlatter was a hot topic when I first started, along with the drama around Metcalf's first year in college.
I think I missed most of the Mocco drama or didn't care enough about heavyweights back then to pay attention.
Why did I re-start closely following wrestling and posting in my early 30s after being away (mostly) from the sport since my first year in college? My wife and I started having kids and spending way more time at home than we previously had . . . I imagine quite a few other posters have similar circumstances.

I almost spit my drink out at “younger generation is reluctant to accept facts or feedback.”
Edited to be more specific: In my experience the younger generation is much easier to offend/trigger. The older generation is wayyyyyyyy more set in their ways and reluctant to accept facts and new ways of doing things.

As someone in the 30-39 demographic, my narrative is that there are plenty of older folks that are reluctant to accept facts. And I believe more so than my generation. The "set in my ways" mentality.

LCpl Schmuckatelli reacted to Mphillips in Will a PA boy become the greatest Iowa Hawkeye ever?
This place is like the Justice League for Semantic Superheros.
To be fair you're never one of them Tobus.

LCpl Schmuckatelli reacted to TobusRex in Will a PA boy become the greatest Iowa Hawkeye ever?
Oh man, there have been so many great Hawkeye wrestlers, and that's not even counting Gable, who although he wrestled at ISU is clearly the greatest Hawkeye nonetheless. Also, I don't really stack Olympic FS or Greco achievements on college careers. College wrestling is a different sport.
So I guess there's your answer. Until Spencer Lee wins 14 NCAA titles, like Gable did at Iowa, then Gable is the greatest Hawkeye (this coming from a non-Gable fan, btw). Lee could very well end up being the greatest Hawkeye WRESTLER, however. Semantics, really.

LCpl Schmuckatelli reacted to Jaroslav Hasek in Checked the TV Schedule for the "Free" Channels Today...
The powers that be in TV have a general idea of what the ratings would be. Plus some wrestling events have had their ratings publicized. The Iowa PSU dual had over 300,000 viewers. the NCAA finals usually gets around 650,000 viewers.
Also just saw an NBC ad for the wrestling OTT during the marathon you mentioned in the OP, so my guess is they're going to broadcast it live on NBC, which is a positive step for the sport. May also be way the finals are starting at 8pm et.

LCpl Schmuckatelli reacted to TobusRex in A bet for you, Cinnabons
Man, this whole Cinnabon hate thing has gotten ridiculous. It's affecting the flow of discussion in some of the threads negatively. That's MY job.
I wish you guys would confine your arguing over gambling to personal messages.

Kid dynamite was pretty appropriate for Dake and I thought that was a cool nickname.

Jason T-Shirts and T-Ram were good.
David “Magic Man” Taylor was the worst.

An admin couldn't do it unless they hate wrestling, the school, the Olympics, God and the USA.

On February 15, 62 year old former Marine George Hood broke the world record for longest time holding the plank postion: 8 hours, 15 minutes, and 15 seconds.

LCpl Schmuckatelli got a reaction from jon in New FLO FRL's
I am still butt hurt about that match. I canceled right after, but hey, if everyone is now vouching for Flo then obviously I should reconsider.
Also, I’m a big fan of Askren’s addition. I think he’s pretty insightful, his stories are pretty funny, and the malcontent in me finds it amusing when he gives Pyles a hard time!

LCpl Schmuckatelli reacted to malcolmJfromPA in New FLO FRL's
Is anyone else a big fan of the additional shows that are being done? I know FLO gets a lot of flak and in some cases rightfully so but I think anytime we can get more content its a good thing. Brining in Ben has been a good change of pace and now seeing and hearing more from the rest of the crew I think is awesome. Also great coverage over last week on the PIAA team tourney. Love that in Hawaii I can watch live.
