My opinion is that I don't enjoy watching women's wrestling. I wouldn't pay to watch it. Men's wrestling is much more exciting to me, personally. I believe the numbers will show that the majority of fans have a similar opinion.
Seems like I should get to have that opinion. It may not be diplomatic, nor politically correct - but it's my opinion. In a free country like the US, shouldn't I get to have that opinion and voice it without retribution? Seems like I should. I agree it won't be well received by some, isn't politically correct, and it isn't in the best interest of wrestling - but it is still my opinion.
That being said, I don't enjoy watching men's volleyball at all. I find it boring, too. Women's volleyball is so much more fun to watch - both beach and indoor. Hands down better.
As both a collegiate wrestler and collegiate and USVBA volleyball player, it seems like my experience gives my opinion at least some legitimacy. I don't dislike women who wrestle or men who play volleyball... I just wouldn't pay to watch either one.
What a terrible world it would be if we couldn't voice our opinions, and instead we all were forced to agree on everything.

Dude quoted Hitler to justify a position.  Or so he thought... but it was a fake Hitler quote. Which is pretty ridiculous.
I thought agreeing with Hitler was an immediate shark jumping, but I guess I am wrong.

Ya I'm not talking about the value. I was a subscriber until recently. I was talking about them charging ppl for months and years after they had cancelled and making it extremely hard to cancel your subscription. I mean it was borderline illegal what they did early on. It was clear they were doing it on purpose to make more money off of people because there was a ton of ppl having the same problem. I mean it was basically CC theft in reality.

So apparently Downey threatened to beat up Sarah Hildegrandt on Twitter, Downey apparently was asking for nude pictures from women, and Nomad was asking female wrestlers for bikini pics. This has been a crazy weekend for wrestling gossip. This is all allegations at this point.

Downey tweeted that he would “pay to watch” women’s stars like Helen Maroulis, Alli Ragan, Adeline Gray, Erica Wiebe and Victoria Anthony, but also wrote “the average fan ain’t paying for women’s wrestling.”

Downey also referred to women’s freestyle and Greco as “boring a**” The posts sparked a volley of tweets between female freestylers Downey and Hildebrandt and Winchester.

If you don't like his tweets, don't read his tweets.

I have several reasons for believing Singletary will be very good at 197:
    1. Unlike most 220 that made the drop, Singletary was not overly dependent on superior athleticism but instead technique and match management.  In other words he was seriously outgunned and found a way to get it done anyway.  As hard as it is to be successful at this level it says a lot about the guy's grit and toughness.
    2.  Many who make the switch were unsuccessful at the higher weight.  While Singletary was not in the super elite he was an AA candidate and had some very good wins at heavyweight including Parris and Stencel.
    3. Ohio State and the OTC have great competition and coaching in the upper weights.  The challenge from Gavin Hoffman and getting to bang with Orndorff and Traub daily will help.  Having Cox, Moore and Martin at the OTC is fantastic even with the defection of Snyder.  Tervel's coaching prowess is well documented.
    4. Singletary's success in limited time down at 97 KG including a win over Honis who was an AA at 197.

I think Ultimately it will come down to if he can handle the cut, I believe he will be fine but if he isn't Hoffman presents a nice alternative.  Maybe they both end up being successful at 197 and the Bucks end up with good depth and competition at this weight.  I know that probably isn't likely but both guys were blue chippers wrestling out of weight class so it's reasonable to believe that whoever emerges should be very competitive.

Did you pick Askren over Burroughs as well? 8 years of no wrestling is not good prep for beating the top seed at the NCAA championships. Have a little respect for how hard it is to be a great wrestler.

I was saying you do not need to go to college to get a high paying job and having a degree doesn’t make you smarter then someone who skipped college and started a business at 18 or enlisted in military.

Stieber Worlds = 1st, 12th, 19th for 2016, 2017, 2018.  In 2016, he had 4 wins to take the championship.  All 4 guys would eventually be world medalists - 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronzes between them.  So even though this was a non olympic weight in an olympic year, it was a very tough tournament and I wouldn't diminish the gold medal in any way.  He earned that thing.  Stieber had 2 losses in the 2017 worlds and they were both to past or future gold medalists.  Stieber was one loss and out in 2018 and it was to the eventual bronze medalist.  So his world championship performances were all competitive with the best in the world.
Taylor Worlds = 1st in 2018.  Taylor had 5 wins and 1 was against a past gold medalist and one was against the 2018 silver medalist.  Taylor took longer to make it to the world championships because he was 1-11 against Burroughs, Dake and Cox.  It took the establishing of new weight classes at 79 and 92 kg to spread these guys out and open up a spot for Taylor.  Stieber did not have any USA gold medalists to fight through to make it to the first team.
Stieber USA Open National Championships = 3rd,6th,4th,3rd,4th,2nd,3rd for 2009,10,13,14,15,16,18.  Stieber wrestled his first US Open in 2009 at age 18.  It took him from then till 2016 to make his first appearance at the world championships.  I think that tells you something about how hard it is to make it through the gauntlet of very good wrestlers to make the first team.
Taylor USA Open National Championships = 2nd,2nd,1st,1st,1st,1st for 2013-2018.  Taylor wrestled in the 2012 Olympic Trials at age 21 and it took him till 2018 to make his first appearance at the world championships.  Reinforces the comment on how hard it is to make it to the first team.
Two of the very best all time NCAA wrestlers who both made it to the world team to win gold.  The results say that Taylor made the transition from folkstyle to freestyle a little better than Stieber did.  They both made it through the very difficult process to make the team.  But Taylor's overall freestyle record is better.  I think Stieber was an outstanding control wrestler (could ride anyone) but that isn't valued in freestyle.  Taylor's style is more wide open and scrambling and that has worked a little better.

I don't think the losses to Patterson, Lara, or Perrelli are on Stieber's official record, they were during his redshirt year.  Otherwise we're adding two more losses to Taylor's tally, one more to Jenkins and a loss to Cyler Sanderson.
I completely disagree with the idea that Taylor faced superior competition.  I think it's more likely to favor Stieber in that conversation (Oliver, Zain, Ramos, Mitchell Port, Kendric Maple, Devin Carter vs. Dake (never beat), Jenkins [got decked], St. John, Caldwell), but also Stieber notably BEAT those guys.  The two best guys Taylor faced, he never beat.  Taylor was more dominant in terms of bonus points, though.

Logan was in 9th grade and Taylor 10th.  This was Logan Stieber's only high school lost.  Taylor dropped dropped a match to Ben Sergent from Troy Christian early freshman year and also lost to Jamie Clark from St. Ed (a couple times I thought but I may be wrong).  I've watched both these guys since they were in middle school.  By any objective metric Logan had the better college career.  He had two more titles and had wins over much tougher competition (Oliver, Ramos, Retherford, Carter).  Both were extremely dominant even against AA caliber competition.  I agree Taylor has the edge in freestyle at this point due to consistency and winning at an Olympic weight.

I think during his time in college it was because DT was riding such a tidal wave of hype from his age-group accomplishments. Going up from 112 to 135(?) just for tougher competition, wrestling Colin Palmer at 140, Ironman, Junior FS & Greco, all the stories of flying around the country for wrestling practice every week, all that stuff. Stieber was a also stud entering college, so no disrespect, but the fanfare around Taylor was pretty unreal.

For the exception of volleyball & field hockey, wrestling was grouped with sports that most didn’t even know existed.  Really, sailing, light weight rowing!  Stanford is one of the most prestigious universities in the world and the people that run that school are smart, successful, and have a lot of influence beyond the campus. Essentially this group said, “Wrestling is one of the sports no one gives a darn about!”
    Trouble is ahead for wrestling.
