ShakaAloha got a reaction from Chet Hanson in 2021 Best Since 1984?
It's unlikely we take gold in all 3. Either you don't follow international wrestling, or you need to take off your red/white/blue sunglassses. And not to be a downer, but its going to be tough to get a medal at 57 and we might not qualify 65.

Taylor is an amazing wrestler, but he's all about himself. Best of luck to him in Tokyo, but I won't be pulling for him as hard as the rest of our guys.

He conducts himself well when he is winning. He is a poor loser. See the rant on Twitter about J'Den Cox from 2017.

This. Can't blame Bo for feeling that way.

ShakaAloha got a reaction from chestcrusher in Better Career, Wick or Bull?
Wick had a 0% chance of winning that match. And despite the fact that he got destroyed by Dake, he still won matches at the Trials over Gantt and Marstellar. In fact, Wick has beaten Gantt twice in this tournament as he won on the backside earlier today. If Wick wins his next match, he will 4-1 in the Trials tournament and 3rd in a bracket with Kyle Dake and Jason Nolf. This is a tournament that Marinelli had every opportunity to try to qualify for, but decided to focus on the college season instead. If you still want to argue that a guy who has never placed higher than 6th in three tries at the NCAA tournament is better than Wick, that's on you.

Dake is not vulnerable to aging. He is doing functional patterns and getting younger and younger by the day.

ShakaAloha reacted to lu_alum in Covid protocols
Those rules may have been initially created prior to COVID, but the source document has been marked up since the COVID crisis to include language covering it. Marked up elements are evident in the document linked below.

Zach Sherman 6-1 with 2 bonus wins
Montorie bridges 1-1
Chad Red 1-1 1 bonus win
Jack Muellar
Korbin Myers 3-0 2 bonus wins
john ernaste 2-1
Scott delveccio -bonus
sadarian perry
Killian Cardinale - bonus
Sebastian Rivera -bonus
Luke pletcher 1-1 bonus
Kaid Brock -bonus

He didn't win a medal at 2019 worlds. He was injured. We sent a JV wrestler instead. Said JV wrestler did not medal.

ShakaAloha got a reaction from GockeS in Better Career, Wick or Bull?
Wick just got seeded higher than Cenzo for the Trials. He would be seeded higher than Marinelli too, had he qualified.

This is the best lineup. Yianni at 141 and Richard at 149 is better that Saunders at 141 and Yianni at 149. Also a shame that there is no spot for Cardenas.

Good point. Let's see how JG does on April 2.

ShakaAloha got a reaction from dwkeller in Is the US gonna have a chance to Qualify 65k?
Yes, USA Wrestling can only send 1 rep to Last Chance and it has almost always been the winner of the Trials. See, Molinaro and Cox in 2016.
-
ShakaAloha got a reaction from lu_alum in Hall - Martin - Zahid
Hall doesn't have the frame to do what Taylor did. He should find a good dietitian to help him safely descend to 74kg in Olympic years. If James Green can make 65kg, Hall can make 74kg.

ShakaAloha got a reaction from DocBZ in Would Kollin Moore have won this year?
Yes, Kollin would have won. If he and Ferrari hit at Trials, you will see the difference in skill level.

ShakaAloha got a reaction from treep2000 in 2021 Champs vs 2019 Champs
I have 2018 Yianni over 2021 Nick Lee. And I like Nick a lot.
Otherwise our lists are the same.

ShakaAloha reacted to jerseychas in Marinelli does not AA
I repeat: Da Bull is the best that never was. He's been stomping around with his antics for 3 years. I don't usually find glee in somebody failing, but in his case I cheered with his downfall. He's not the "nice guy" so many on this forum insist. I feel sorry for him and others like him recently who can't move on and wind up wrestling until they're close to 30.

ShakaAloha reacted to spladle08 in Is the US gonna have a chance to Qualify 65k?
His results I think is what most people are referring to. Straight forward style and can't score points in bunches so a lot of close matches.
At 65kg there are several guys who can put 10 on the scoreboard and while solid fundamental "low risk" wrestling keeps them somewhat in check.... It's hard to hold 4 guys in a row under 5pts at this weight/level, to account for his limited offensive capabilities.
So while he may win 4-3 or 4-4 he's just as likely to lose 4-3 or 4-4 .....
Metcalf felt like a coinflip against anyone in the top 20.... So does Zain.... It's just hard to win several coinflips in a row
