MrDream got a reaction from irani in Women wrestling, my very controversial opinion
1). "Ridiculous premise". Most people with an average IQ would agree that the real ridiculous premise would urge wrestling to become co-ed.
2). The remaining drivel you spew is where I get lost. I don't remember reading (or posting) anyone stating that women shouldn't wrestle (or play any other sports for that matter). I believe the OG poster stated that he believes women should wrestle against men and women at lighter weights would fare better. The opposition stated multiple points (competitiveness, safety, etc...) on why they disagreed. Then a woman at the D1 level beating a man at the D1 level was brought up. Not one person stated a woman shouldn't participate in wrestling. Not one.

What you are saying is just astounding.....
"Based on a few girls who have won state championships at the high school, I was proven wrong"....how were you proven wrong? Because a handful of girls won a state title against boys? You honestly believe that because a handful of girls won a state title that deems that girls overall can compete against boys? You can't honestly be serious....
"I believe some day, there may be a woman who is the best wrestler in the 100 lb division, if they had such a weight in freestyle.".....You do realize that if your intention is to make the sport co-ed it has to be co-ed at every weight, not just lighter weights. Although I believe that women would do "better" at the lighter weights, they would still be mauled. Girls actually have a way better chance to be competitive up until 13/14, then testosterone starts increasing....substantially in boys. This is a huge deal. Wrestling is a contact sport, where strength plays a MAJOR factor. This would just be unfair.
Also...people drastically underestimate the compassion factor. Boys are put into a lose/lose situation when wrestling a girl. If they win, "Big deal. You should be able to beat her.". If they lose, "HAHAHAHAHA! You lost to a girl!!!". It's very unfair. Also, the older you get, the rougher wrestling gets. How awful would it look for a boy to snap a girl's head down in a tie? How awful would it look for a boy to have heavy hands on a girl's head? Just think about how bad it looks when Jordan Burroughs used to slap the hell out of his opponents, now just imagine if that was a girl.
I am fully behind women wrestling, I think it helps grow the sport....exponentially. But, they should wrestle other women. Not just for competition, but for safety as well.

1st Period - Lee takes him down and rides him for 2:50. Tries to turn him the entire period, finally gets a turn. 4-0 Lee
2nd Period - Medley rides him for a bit, Lee gets up after a bit. Lee with another takedown. 7-0 Lee.
3rd Period - Medley takes down. Gets out. Medley hangs on his head for the remainer of the match and loses 8-1.
I guess I would agree that Lee didn't look as sharp in the 3rd as he did in the 1st, but, no wrestler does. The match was never close. Medley didn't attempt to score on his feet and when he was on top he didn't attempt a turn/tilt or any offensive attack. His game plan was to go in there and keep it to a decision....he accomplished that. In folk style you're able to do that. The match was dominated from start to finish by Lee. This match didn't show me any weakness in terms of conditioning for Lee. It showed me that you can lose a decision in folk style without ever really trying to score....in any position.

How easy is it to say "my training is at 50%" when you were soundly handled??
Everyone around the world's talks about how hard Chamizo is to score on and then we he does get scored on...it's because.....he's injured. He's a shell of the guy who used to go back and forth with Romanov, seems like the high end guys have found the minor flaws. I hope to see him back to his 2015/2016 days not only for him, but for the massive amount of people who keep blaming his injuries when he loses.....

It's the same American drivel....When our top guy(s) get beat by any one that we don't think they should lose to....they are on steroids!!!!!!

Did any of the people commenting on Mohammadian actually watch the matches he had between Bo and Snyder? Or are just reading Flo's article about how he was banned for 4 years due to a PED?

The Bo Match: What can anyone say here besides Bo looked absolutely WAY to small for 97. Bo's strength in folk style will be his demise in freestyle. He was tossed around and couldn't penetrate Mohammadian's defense. Simple match. No challenge due to the size discrepancy. Hopefully Bo will put his "friendship" aside with DT and actually go down to a weight he actually has a chance at.

The Snyder Match: When is America going to wake up and see the best year's from Snyder are behind him (unless he makes drastic changes to his training). Snyder use to be able to out muscle his competition and out condition them. There were a good number of guys (4/5) that had better technical skills than Snyder, but they couldn't match his strength or his motor. Now, I still don't believe they can match his motor, but, they are taking the matches to where Snyder struggles.....scrambling. His loss to Sharifov was actually him being out muscled...his match with Mohammadian was him just getting out classed. All you see on social media is Snyder doing these huge power lifts and lifting very heavy weight, yet, when he gets on the mat (at least in his losses) that strength doesn't seem to translate over. I believe guys like Mohammadian and Sadulaev will always take him into deep water scrambling situations and ultimately come out on top, but, I think it's evident that when he loses to a guy like Sharifov (who is a guy that wrestle the perfect match for him....straight forward).....something tells me the world's top 2-3 guys have figured him out.

Now....I am sure I will hear the following.....
1). "Look what he's done!!! What have you ever done!!!!'
2). "Synder is the greatest American wrestler ever!!!'
3). "Are you some sort of wrestling coach!? You think you know what to train better than Snyder!"
4). "What are your credentials!? I'm sure not better than Synder's!!!"

MrDream got a reaction from wamba in J' Den will take out Snyder at the Olympic Trials
Snyder is a vertical wrestler.....everyone thought the best vertical wrestler in the world at 97.....he just lost to another vertical wrestler. I don't think that's "overreacting".
Unless something drastic happens Sadulaev will own Snyder. His scrambling ability is just far superior to Snyder's offense.
Let's not crown J'den yet. He won a watered down 92 weight....but he dominated it.
I believe people are drastically underestimating the strength transition from 92 to 97. Also....it's not like J'den is just wrestling a guy at 97. He's wrestling the strongest 97kg wrestler at the weight. Everyone seems to have a plan until a super strong opponent grabs ahold of you.
As for J'den and Sadulaev.....there's so many facets to Sadulaev's game that J'den has never seen wrestling any other opponent. Strength, size, speed, awareness....and the best gut wrench this world has ever seen. J'den is phenomenal.....but he is 0-2 against Sharifov and Sadulaev is light years better than Sharifov.

After his freshman year I found it very odd that he didn't compete.
It isn't uncommon for him to sit out this year due to the long recovery time Mono takes.

I would really hope that Gilman isn't one of the reasons Lee hasn't wrestled a senior event....but I would be lying if I told you I believed that Gilman being at 57 doesn't have a little something to do with it.

Hopefully Lee wins multiple Olympic/World Titles over the next 10 years so this can be a forgotten topic.....

It's sad to see a freestyle talent like Lee's wasted in the early part of his career. I'm a freestyle junkie, so I have a biased view. So take my opinion with a grain of salt.
I agree that Brands' job to have the University of Iowa win, but it's also to promote the program and develop athletes. Look at the notoriety that Snyder brought to tOSU when we was successful on the senior level WHILE competing at tOSU. What would that do for TnT and Iowa if Lee won a World Championship this year or an Olympic Gold in 2020? I'm sure every light weight recruit in the country would want to be training with TnT/Perry.
I don't see how Lee wrestling freestyle would hurt recruiting in anyway....if he gets hurt...yes, it would hurt Iowa's chance drastically to beat PSU....but darn, Iowa gets 3rd/4th in the country instead of 1st/2nd. I don't think dropping a couple places nationally because of a freak injury would "hurt" recruiting. If that's the case, Iowa's recruiting is doomed....they've finished runner up 1 time since 2011.
