Probably overly harsh, but Takahashi to me hasn't advanced much since his title two years ago.  Relies WAY too much on countering and hardly ever generates his own offense against elite guys.

It seems to be in Siberia.  Karelin trained in Novosibirsk, Vlasov (Karelin's student) is also from the same city.  Sergey Emelin and Surkov are both from the republic of Mordovia, I believe that many other wrestlers travel to learn under the tutelage of Karelin.  However, the Caucasian mountains of course have a strong background in Greco, too: Maryanyan and Chekhirkhin in Sochi (not quite as far, but close); Mantsigov in Grozny (Chechnya) and Musa Evloev in Ingushetia (neighboring Chechnya).  I believe Komarov is in Siberia, somewhere and Kabaloev is in Kabardino-Balkaria - in the Caucasian mountains.

Tomorrow at 97kg there will be a rematch of the 2017 World's finals and 2018 World's semi-finals:  Musa Evloev vs. Artur Aleksanyan.

They are currently 1-1, hopefully Evloev can exact revenge and claim the gold this time - as Aleksanyan did in 2017.  I think the winner of this will be the Olympic champion.  There really isn't any other wrestlers who can challenge them.

    Let's go, Surkov!

Was surprised to see how easily Molina destroyed Stabler; Surkov can do it, though.  It will be close.

A little disappointed with Maryanyan not attacking enough; but Mantsigov killed Vardanyan in the finals in under a minute..  not mad

I am interested to see how Pat Smith performs.  Although Kamal Bey is still inexperienced at the senior level internationally, he is still a good win - despite being a hot-head lol.  I don't think Smith with get a medal, but he should beat some of the weaker guys, before running into Georgians, Kazakhs and Russians etc.  I think most of the USA has the same problem; beating weaker Greco countries before running into those who actually care for Greco.

Yianni has a better chance of gaining a medal than Zain imo.  I don't think Zain can beat Otoguro/Rashidov/Aliyev/maybe even Punia.  But Yianni can, he has a high pace and won't break.

65: Zain Retherford - Bronze - I think he has a good shot alongside Rashidov (who I think wins gold), Otoguro and Punia
70: James Green - Bronze - he is very inconsistent, but Iakobishvili, Baev (hoping Baev wins gold - he has stepped up at the Russian Nationals) and Batirov beats him
74: Jordan Burroughs -  Bronze - hoping for another Sidakov gold
    79: Kyle Dake -  Gold - Dieringer silver/bronze
86: Pat Downey -  DNP - Yazdani probably wins gold, Naifonov will get silver imo.  He has gotten better this year
92: J'den Cox - Gold - I hope Tsakulov can do something, but he probably won't
97: Kyle Snyder- silver - hoping Sadulaev can get another gold
125: Nick Gwiazdowski - . bronze - doesn't beat Akgul, nor does he beat Petriashvili - but who does?
