Gable is the Olympic champ, Zare was not.  He kinda already deserves the crown......no?
But man I love this.  Great stuff!!

Seems like on the feet in neutral, Yianni's only setup or the only setup he uses is to shoot from space, and he often gets extended and countered as was mentioned above by other posters. Also seems like his opponents know it's coming.
How about mixing in new setups or different types of takedowns? Throw-bys, slide-bys, something else. Look how easy Sadulaev (yes, I know I'm using the p4p king as example) took down Snyder with 1:25 left in 2nd period. Just a gorgeous underhook to throw-by and duck-under or whatever it was. Didn't have to touch legs. Spencer Lee was also hitting that same type of underhook throw-by in last season he competed.
Just a keyboard scouting report here, but looks like Yianni is too one-dimensional on his feet and elite opponents know it.

I think this will properly summarize our performance at this year's worlds.

It is still a World Championship regardless of who chose not to go.  The amount it is "watered down" depends a lot on the particular weight you are talking about.  86 kg, 97 kg & 125 kg are very tough and most of the non-Olympic weights are comparable to an average year.  57kg 74kg & 65 kg are missing some pretty key guys but you can only wrestle the guys that bother to show up.

Some skillsets just don't fully transfer from folk to free.  Guys like Retherford, Ruth and Askren were just such great overall wrestlers that they still did damn good in Freestyle, but losing their mat wrestling skillset hurt all 3 considerably. Zain, even more so, because he scored points in BUNCHES on top!

Maybe the fact that some countries are.  Japan for instance.  It isn’t the USA championships.

Most of their college starters are too old for U23, making them "true senior level guys."  Spencer turns 23 next month, DeSanto is also 23 next month, Eierman is 25, Kaleb turns 24 in November, Marinelli is 23, and Kemerer will be 25 this year.  Murin, Nelson Brands, Warner, and Cass are the only starters that are U23 eligible and they all turn 22 this year.
The issue most people have with Iowa is that the Brands Bros have manipulated the starters' eligibility so they have an entire team of senior level aged guys beating up on college aged kids from other schools, and then these same senior level aged guys don't enter the tournaments to compete against guys their own age.

57:  Gilman.  For now, and the foreseeable future.  The version of Gilman we saw at the Olympics is by far the best version of himself.  Everyone keeps saying Spencer Lee is the next best option at 57kg, and although I don't disagree given his past achievements, things can change in hurry when the physical tools become suspect.  I would not put Spencer Lee on the list until we see him in action again.
61:  A 61kg Suriano could be incredible.  If not Nicky Pushups, I'm calling RBY.
65:  Yianni.  He had a tough tourney the last time out, but has the skills and the ability to hang with the international crowd, as evidenced by his wins and close bouts with those he's met.
70kg:  Carr.  I think this is a more ideal weight for him, and can help him exploit his skillset.  74kg is Dake's for now, and having him at 70kg is a nice spot to be in.  If not Carr, it's Pantaleo, then Green/Deakin.
    74kg:  Dake, as evidenced above
    79kg:  JB.
    86kg:  Taylor.
92kg:  I'm in the camp that right now, it is 50/50 with Cox/Moore.  There is evidence of suspect results with Cox in Poland, and Moore has been improving.  They haven't really been that far apart previously, and now, Moore is #2 at 97kg behind Snyder.  Sure, the gap there may be significant, but I think it's also partly due to familiarity and a "big brother" type situation where Moore learned everything he knows from Snyder.  Put him on the mat with others, and he's always in the bout, and always pushing forward, looking for the takedown, and getting them.
97kg:  Snyder.  If Snyder bows out... then it's Moore's to lose.
125kg:  Gable.  If Gable bows out... then it's a dogfight between Parris, Gwiz, and Kerkvliet.  I'm excited to see a truly healthy Kerkvliet (if that day ever comes).

He lost to Cox at the WTT 4 years ago. And I’ll remind you, those matches were after DT had been wrestling all day. Since then, apart from his injuries, DT has not lost and has won Yarygin, World and Olympic gold in a more competitive weight class. Cox can’t even place at the Poland Open while DT is winning Olympic Gold. For now the two don’t belong in the same sentence.

By the way, I want to point out the obvious
The performance by the US men freestyle team was simply amazing. All five men's freestyle wrestlers earned medals, and produced a 16-3 overall record
Other than Dake, everyone did better than or as expected, and even Dake managed to redeem  himself by defeating Chamizo and winning bronze.

I just rewatched the finals and man alive what happened Saturday Night could not have been better for Penn State. They go 4-0 in the Championship Round and 2-0 vs Iowa.
The play by play call from renowned Iowa wrestling voice Tim Johnson ..., even he sounded like the most positive effusive Penn State fan. Then you have the visuals. Oh those visuals.
The sheer joy on the faces of everyone at Penn State as one match after another the Nittany Lions prevailed. Valient and Victorious at the same time.
And the looks on the faces of Eierman and Kemerer told an opposite story, the old Wide World of Sports "Agony of Defeat" story minus the downhiller crashing on the ski slope.
Hollywood couldn't make that script up. I found two of the videos. Awesome stuff.
