Been meaning to post this for a while...
For those still wondering what happened to Malik Johnson.
He has popped up at Central Methodist, an NAIA school in Fayette, MO., who are in their 2nd year as a program this year.

PinFallRecruit got a reaction from JHRoseWrestling in PINFALL RECRUITING - Asleep at the wheel?
I have my web guys do it. It's all mostly custom coded. The database I maintain actually populates the commits, PFRdatabase, rankings, and wrestler profiles. They have a script to take my database and turn it into the content you see. Lot's of moving parts so still some bugs and efficiency to work out.

PinFallRecruit got a reaction from JHRoseWrestling in PINFALL RECRUITING - Asleep at the wheel?
It's ok guys. It doesn't bother me. If it's an issue for one, it's probably an issue for more. It is something i want to fix. I prefer it be as immediate as possible as well.
A PM is probably the better route to go though for sure.
I do appreciate the backup though!

Not asleep. It’ll be updated. It currently lags behind by about a week. One of the trade offs from moving away from the Google Sheets.
Working on trying to find a way to get them updated faster.

PinFallRecruit got a reaction from Plasmodium in Don’t have the link but..UWW
UWW announced a little while ago that if there was a Sr. Worlds that it wouldn’t impact seeding for the Olympics.
The only events that will count going forward is the continental championships, the ranking event that has already taken place, and 2019 Sr. Worlds.

PinFallRecruit got a reaction from Swayz in The entire list of CA 2020 H.S. Senior wrestlers who placed 2nd AND haven't committed
There are a quite a bunch of coaches out there that struggle tremendously with hunting kids down. There are numerous reasons why from actually being bad at it to being the only coach and not having enough time in the day. I know there are coaches that rely purely on who contacts them to recruit or pick a tournament to attend (Fargo/NHSCA/Super 32/etc.) and get all their contacts there.
Every coach has what they are good at. Some are great at coaching and bad at recruiting. Some are bad at coaching and great at recruiting.

You’ll see it more on the lower levels, but it happens D1 as well.

PinFallRecruit got a reaction from ShakaAloha in Arizona State adds 3 time NM champ - Tristan Mascarenas
Chris Martinez of Clovis West won and Vince Rodriguez of Clovis North was 2nd. Rodriguez was also a runner-up his senior year to Alex Cisneros with former ASU wrestlers Nikko Villareal (3rd) and Ali Naser (7th) also placing.
Chris went to San Francisco State for a year and I don't see anything else from him.
Vince went to George Mason and was a National Qualifier as a true freshman and didn't make it again.

Khadzhimurad Gadzhiyev’s grandpa has been telling me they haven’t been hit very hard yet, but the last update I got was a few weeks ago. I’ll ask him again and see what he has to say.

PinFallRecruit reacted to 77again in Archive Match of the Day: 1989 World Championships John Smith (USA) v/s Gary Bohay (CAN)
Gary Bohay grew up in Southern California. He went to Fountain Valley HS and wrestled his freshman and sophomore years at UCLA, after which they dropped the program in 1980. He subsequently transferred to Arizona State and wrestled for the great Bobby Douglas. He was arguably favored to win the NCAAs in 1981 @ 126lbs but completely blew out his knee in the PAC12 championships that year. Dan Cuestas (whom Bohay had beaten twice that year) won the NCAAs that year and in 1982, while Bohay recovered from a complete reconstruction of his knee.
In 1983 Bohay returned to ASU lineup and made the NCAA finals at 126 but lost a 5-2 decision to Iowa's Barry Davis, who had moved up from 118.
He had dual US/Canadian citizenship and wrestled on numerous Canadian world teams. He was in Med School when he wrestled John Smith in the World finals.
Gary is currently a internal medicine physician in Tuscon, AZ.
