It wasn't the Olympic Finals.  Slay lost to Leipold in the Finals, who then tested hot and was stripped.

A lot of people see pound for pound as a way to determine who would win if weights were somehow made equal. By that definition, women would never beat men because of their physiological differences. The actual definition, however is a comparison of skill level regardless of weight class. Going by the actual definition, I think you are correct.

Yazdani:  Yes, I have heard that too.  Cox has very good character and we are friends.  We show respect to each other every time that we see each other in tournaments.  He has told me a few times that he wants to change weight for the Olympics, and I respond with a laugh.  For me it does not matter who my opponent is.  If I am Iran's representative in the Olympics, I will do my best for success and raising the flag of my country, and to bring joy to people of Iran.  As a competitor, it is my duty t fight in the field

Takahashi won without any offense.  How did Fix get put on the clock twice when Takahashi took approximately zero shots in 6 minutes?

You have a valid point that if you base it off of recent international results alone, it looks like he is going to dnp and I am not refuting that. However, if you look deeper into it, I think it paints a bigger picture as to where he is at compared to the top of the world. His Yasar results stem from losing to Yianni (who he has now beaten twice when it mattered) and then defaulting out of the rest of the tournament because of an injury. His Yarygin result is from losing to a 2018 World silver medalist by a last second takedown and then being eliminated when Rashidov didn’t make the finals. Before those results, his only international loss was from almost two years ago to another worlds silver. So his only losses to foreign wrestlers in the last two years have been to world medalists in competitive matches. Now I am not saying I think he will medal nor am I saying I think he won’t. I’m just saying that from what I see, he’s right there with the elite of the elite skill wise even though his credentials don’t necessarily show that yet.

Zain is an incredible wrestler. And every American fan will be cheering for him. But his resume to date does not suggest he'll win a medal later this week.
Here are his individual senior level accomplishments, as far as I can tell:
2019- Yasar Dogu- 7th 2019- Ivan Yarygin- 8th 2017- Worlds- 11th 2017- Grand Prix of Spain- 1st 2015- Dave Schultz- 4th I’d love to see Zain prove the conventional wisdom wrong and win a medal, and I’m sure other US fans would love to see that, too.

I really really do not understand how people come to this conclusion. I’m pretty sure Zain’s last international loss in the last couple of years has been to a world silver medalist and before that, another world silver at worlds. Meanwhile, Yianni has matches he almost lost against people who will never come close to a medal. Now I am not saying Zain is for sure the better option either. Just that from what I see, there’s no logical reason to come to the conclusion that Yianni has the better chance against the world. I wanted Yianni to win btw.

For one continuous movement this is true, but there are many scoring sequences that are scored 2 and 2 because there are two moves in one sequence. I don’t think that’s the case here (or in their last match), but you must admit thats hard to tell.
This is not really true either... how often do you see the professional refs disagree? There are also many knowledgeable fans on here that can see both sides, although many are so biased they only see one way. The problem is it’s very subjective to determine who initiated the move sometimes

Dumb or not, the rules make for the most entertaining style of wrestling by a decent margin.

Completely agree with this. Also, I don’t know why people seem to think Yianni will be the better rep at worlds. I wanted Yianni to win, but I think that either would have an equal shot at a medal.

Zain is amongst the best in the world, I've heard some folks on here saying he isn't ready.  his last international loss was to two time World Silver Rashidov on a last second takedown.  He's right there.

There is nothing wrong with correcting that sh*t show of an ending to that match. That’s why there is an arbitration process in place. The bigger embarrassment by far, would be leaving that match how it was. Just my opinion.

I agree but thats not even the worst of it. If the officials would have followed procedure correctly for a failed challenge, Yianni would’ve won outright anyways after they reviewed the last part of the match, which they obviously did because you could see it being played on the big screen. Yianni got screwed in more than one way in this match and the fact that some people are okay with it is mind boggling. Just my 2 cents.
