uncle bernard got a reaction from southend in Greg diakomihalis
Greg was significantly less successful than Yianni was in high school and that's while competing at a lower weight with more underclassmen. He's also incredibly undersized for 125 as it stands now. If he wasn't Yianni's brother, almost nobody would know who he is and he would be viewed as a solid, but not spectacular recruit for Cornell with some potential if he ever grows into 125.
At this point in his career, Yianni was already a 2x age level world champion. I don't think Greg ever made a trials final, let alone contend for a world title. I'm curious what you see that makes you think he's better than Yianni?

I honestly think he may have had a higher probability than Lee, not because he's better, but because Lee had more legit threats. You could see paths to victory for multiple Lee opponents. Mueller could have snaked a takedown and got his boots in. Picc could have maybe cradled him again. Glory had the best shot imo as he's incredibly dangerous in scrambles and on top. I wouldn't pick any of those guys to beat Spencer, but I don't think anybody at 197 could really threaten Moore other than maybe Darmstadt who Moore has dominated every time.

The level change window is a lot bigger in MMA.  If you're wrestling in folkstyle or freestyle you need to have a really good level change and be able to get low to snap off that shot.  In MMA you don't need as dramatic a level change because of what you said, the upright stance. In MMA people don't have that same defensive posture since they can punch, kick and knee if you get close to your leg.  In actual wrestling you can't do that so you have to use your head, hands, etc.  In MMA if you brought your head down like in wrestling you'd get kicked or kneed in the face. If you can gap somebody in MMA and get to a high single and push them into the cage, you're probably going to finish.  In wrestling there's no cage, so you can scramble, twist, and do all kinds of other things.  In my first MMA fight I had 4 takedowns, and only 1 of them was from space, the rest were from pushing into the cage and getting to the legs/body very easily. It also helped that my opponent was a BJJ guy with awful takedown defense.

What you're referring to is called "abiogenesis," not "evolution." Two completely different fields. Evolution is an observable fact. Evolution is simply change over time. You referred to "macro evolution" in your original post. That's a nonsensical term only used by people who don't take the time to understand what evolution is. The only difference between what you would call micro and macro evolution is time. One happens over a few generations. The other is that exact same thing over millions and billions of years.
Would you stop believing in God if you accepted evolution?

is really small. Said he woke up at 128 this morning and never really gets over 130. It's hard to believe he's able to physically bully people the way he does. Can you imagine him at 118 from back in the day? It's also wild to think about him wrestling Rivera who now walks around in the 160s.

I'm not really involved in this convo, but your characterization of the Fix-Lee series is absurd. Lee was in control of both matches. Match 1, he had a 5-0 lead late, had dominated fix, and didn't close the match out properly giving up a hip tip for 2 off his shot in the closing seconds to lose on criteria (narrowly missing out on a final point due to time running out). The first exposure Fix scored was also really questionable, but again bad tactics by Lee taken advantage of by Fix. In match 2, he was once again in control with a 4-1 lead with a minute to go. He once again got too aggressive, tried to throw by an underhook. He got inside tripped into 2 laces for 8 points in the span of about 10 seconds. That was the only 10 seconds of the match where Fix was the better guy and he made it count. Lee closed the gap, but didn't have time to come all the way back.
Big time credit to Fix for making the most of his opportunities, especially after getting mauled by Lee the year prior, but saying that he "wrecked" Lee means you're either trying to be polemical or you're a simpleton (perhaps both?).

I loved when Dake started getting into his functional patterns schtick. "I'm getting younger every day" and "I'm sorry about your tissues" was just hilarious. He's such an ass but it was entertaining. Even funnier when you consider JB has completely owned him their whole career.

The Rome win was not the most dominant match in the series and it's not even close. What are you talking about. Both of Gilman's 2018 wins were more dominant as well as Fix's first win at Final X last year. The only matches closer were the Open and match 3 last year.

I have wasted a tremendous amount of time on this website. I think it's time I step away. Once this quarantine stuff is over, my roll within my company will be changing.  I will no longer have the spare time I had the last two or so years. Plus, I need to focus on developing some different habits and continue to build skills outside of debating on a forum, which is why I chose to announce my departure. If I don't, I'll never leave and this will continue to be a time waster for me as I have zero self control. If there is one thing I am sure of, it is that you posters will call me out on my $hit if I end up posting here again next week. That fear alone will hold me accountable.

So to all of you who are annoyed with my posting, congrats! I won't be adding BS to your threads anymore. To those who I argued with, just know it was in fun. In the end I was probably right, and you were wrong. To everyone else, I hope to run into you at the NCAA's some day so you can buy me a beer. Finally and most importantly, GO HAWKS!

"Spencer Lee is so utterly dominant that it bores me, and therefore I think the award for the most dominant wrestler should go to someone else."
All this says is that you either don't watch much Spencer Lee or you don't understand what you're watching. Spencer hits his tilts because nobody can stop them. However, he could also take just about all of these guys down at will. Look at the second Medley and Schroder matches. Go watch his US Open run. He scores mostly on takedowns and hits a wide variety of them. If somebody could stop his bread and butter at the college level, you'd see that more often, but he's so incredibly dominant that you don't.
Spencer could have been 18-0 with 18 first period pins and people would still argue that Moore should win because Spencer missed 3 matches even though Moore wrestled at the weakest weight in the country and didn't even hit any of the top guys anyway, while still being far less dominant. To argue that Moore deserved the award is to de-legitimatizes the award itself because the entire argument rests on him not missing matches and being a senior, not that he was the more dominant wrestler.

Patently false. 197 was definitely weaker, as outlined by the good uncle, and so was 184 with Zahid gone.  Picc/Mueller/Glory/Lee is a better top 4 than many weights.
