  1. Parris, Micic, Red, and 3 Lees would like to have a conversation with you out back.
  2. A few years back after watching an Indiana high school semi-final where one of the wrestlers routinely dropped to wrestle from his hands and knees without any contact from the other wrestler (not as a result of a snap down, for example), I went on the Indiana message board to argue that this was stalling as it was an attempt to avoid wrestling. Boy, was that an unpopular stance, but I stand by it. There is no way to make a bright line rule for stalling though, so it will have to be like Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart's definition of the obscene. We know it when we see it.
  3. I think you are confused. You asked if there was a mandate for freestyle and then you post an NCAA link to support your belief there isn't.
  4. Mineo has exactly the relevance you all give him.
  5. You're fine saying replaced. Mayo Clinic defines ACL Reconstruction as surgery to replace a torn ACL. Not sure why anyone finds a need to be dickish about it.
  6. Gable Steveson does not max out when weight lifting. https://www.insider.com/gold-medalist-wrestler-uses-lighter-weights-doesnt-max-out-2021-12 It doesn't say that he stops at 12 ounce curls, but I am seeing if that works for me. And who do we think he is talking about here?: "There's really no point besides telling your friends that you lifted a certain amount," Stevenson told Insider. "Stuff like that is pointless and it could injure you."
  7. Don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge @Journeymen charging a ten spot for the streaming of the event on top of the tenner that I pay to Rokfin, but even Journeymen feels a little unsure of the justification for the extra money. Under their PPV details they make a few points: 1.) you need a Rokfin subscription to purchase the PPV, and 2.) PPV subscribers get access to all Rokfin premium content. Of course this is wrong. You get access to the premium content with the subscription, not the PPV. It seems a bit disingenuous to claim access as a benefit of the PPV. Like they are trying to hard to justify their up charge. Just own it. You are putting on an event for profit. Quit making false claims as a justification, and listing the justification under "details".
  8. I thought youth athletics was already designed to extract currency from families, winners and losers alike.
  9. This wouldn't be pay to play. Pay to play is an NCAA concept where the school cannot "pay him to play" outside of well understood boundries. This would be professionalism, and I have no idea what, if any, restrictions the NCAA would currently place on that.
  10. The ONLY other answer? Not even you believe that.
  11. Don't forget jail time. This is so dumb.
  12. The difference is that wrestling is a pseudo team sport where one athlete has no ability to directly impact the performance of another athlete. Any time a "team" score is a simple sum of individual scores, you will get this dynamic. By calling it a team score we try to simulate the team dynamic, but like all simulations, it is never the same as the real thing. All that is my way of saying, meh.
  13. He wrestled the first two matches. Tweaked his knee against Willts in the first 30 seconds of that second match, then sat out the next match.
  14. My favorite way to tweak a Brit is to let them know soccer is a British term. Gets them every time.
  15. I'm with Jim Gaffigan on this one: Hospital
  16. While we are at it, it sounds weird when Brits say maths, even if it makes sense (short for mathematics). But it drives me bonkers when they say Goldmans, Merrills, and Morgans, instead of the singular (and no this is never done in a context to suggest possesive).
  17. Just finished The Data Detective by Tim Hartford and would recommend it. Moving on to The Black Swan by Nassim Taleb next.
