Come to the warmth of North Carolina to wrestle in our Ironman Tournament. It's a fun event where you should get 10+ matches in a day. This is Greco, freestyle, folkstyle event. We will give awards for each style, and then a trophy for the overall champion in each weight class. We have typically had 4-5+ states represented. We would not mind having more. Go here to register: https://www.trackwrestling.com/registration/BasicPreReg1.jsp?tournamentGroupId=132898132 Flyer is attached. Let me know if you have any questions. Ironman Flyer 2019.pdf

Let's give our greco guys some love... Manville won round of 64 match, 4-2, in Manville style-held position and moved forward. Gave up one "correct throw" but held opponent on back and got 2 of his own. Pat Smith wins 5-0 over opponent from CZE...controlled ties and action the whole match. Never in any real trouble. Good start...hope it continues with Provisor and Hancock.

The Greco WTT finals were embarrassingly bad from a wrestling and an officiating standpoint. Not only were the matches low scoring and boring (with the exception of Manville vs Bey), but the officials flat out picked a winner in every bout of the Coleman vs Sancho series. I was sitting with someone who wrestled on a Greco Junior World team in the 80s and he couldn't make heads or tails of that series. I hate to say it, but maybe it's time to bring backed forced par terre. With forced par terre, the ref could influence the match by deciding who to put down, but at least you had a chance to defend yourself, and we got to see some big lifts.

We are again hosting our successful Central Ironman tournament. The tournament will be on April 11, and USA Wrestling cards are required. You will need to pre-register online by April 10 at trackwrestling.com (should be up later this week). The cost is $15 per style or $30 for all three styles. We will give awards for each style as well as awards in each weight and age division for an overall Ironman (only for those that do all three styles). We look forward to again having a great tournament with lots of competition in one day for a good price. Contact Rich Cox at rcox@rcsnc.org if interested and you need more information.
