Angry_Fish 313 Report post Posted July 12, 2015 (edited) Oliver has FS wins over Metcalf, Humphrey and Kennedy after they had made world teamns (and in 2 cases before they made world teams as well), yet JO has yet to make a team himself. Who else (who hasn't made a World team) has beaten than many (or more) World team members? Taylor, Dake, Russell don't have any, do they? Can't think of anyone. armspin 257 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 Michaelek has beaten Varner; possibly Bergman too at some point. Foster has beaten Ruth and Askren. Lee Fullhart from back in the day probably wins this context.

z man 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 J.D. Hawkins beat a lot of the top wrestlers back in the 1970s and even into the early 1980s. Never made a world team for some reason. I guess he just didn't beat them at the big tournaments.
PhiferFuqua 187 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) Taylor has a win over Nick Marable at the 2013 US Open. Pretty sure Dake beat him at the 2012 trials. jmachinder 68 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 John Fisher? He beat Smith. I think he may have beaten Brands and Kolat before they turned the tables. 1 Coach_J reacted to this

KTG119 820 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 wonder how many Ricky Dellagatta had? Joe Pantaleo I bet had a few too w/o ever making a team. where's Lewboo when you need him?
PRyan2012 344 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) I would say Lee Fullhart. Wins over World/Olympic team members Hartung, Gutches, Burton, Cael and Herbert and Lawal. That is very impressive! Poor guy! I don't feel bad because he never beat the international stars of the day in Romero, Satiev or Sajidov. He was like 0-6 against those guys so it is good he didn't make the team but I think he maybe could have medaled just not won it. Angry_Fish 313 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 Howe has wins over DT, Dake and Marable, I believe. But only Marable made a World Team. So Howe's total is one (1). 1 rlw028 reacted to this
PRyan2012 344 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) Most ever Fullhart. Six. There are quite a few guys I thought of with 4 or 5. Current Varner. Four. Hrovat, Herbert, JD and Rowlands Edited July 13, 2015 by PRyan2012

KTG119 820 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 I'm assuming all of Fullhart's wins listed are in free and we are not counting folk wins for him (or anypone else) in this discussion. Either way, that's some big names there for him.
PRyan2012 344 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 Yes those are Freestyle. Not sure about Gutches for Fullhart but even without that it makes 7! And most of those guys he had more than one win over them!
BadgerMon 188 Report post Posted July 13, 2015 Dellagatta had wins over Lewis, Lee Roy Smith, Sergei Belaglazov, and perhaps Mike Land. Wade Schalles I'm sure defeated a lot of studs, but didn't make a world team. Kemp, Dzeizdic, Ashluriev, ??? Wrestling's all-time leader in pins, having defeated 36 national champions, pinning 17 of them, and defeating 8 world titlists.
Two_on_one 121 Report post Posted July 14, 2015 Schalles also had wins over Dave Schultz
PRyan2012 344 Report post Posted July 14, 2015 Searched the database. Lee Fullhart appears to have won Gold in this category. 7 Olympic or world team members and almost all of them more than one win! Call Lee and tell him he finally beat Cael at something:-)
