2td3nf 536 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) Missed all the bracket matches during the day yesterday, but got home for the medal matches. I was watching the 55 bronze match, and it's Russia vs Iran, and I was like, who beat these guys? Then I saw Amiraslanov (AZE) dominate the 55 gold match. He looked like "a little Sadulaev" out there. This guy was fantastic. Edited August 17, 2015 by 2td3nf
AnklePicker 521 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 Mammadov (AZE), the 66 kg winner and the guy who beat Pico is apparently 25 years old and has a Silver medal in 2011 at Russian Junior Nationals https://twitter.com/sikom_d/status/633062727263649792 I did a little research (google) and it looks like Mammadov has been accused of this before by the Russians at the Youth Olympiad. If this is true what a shame for Pico because the guy from Japan who made the finals is the same guy Pico beat for his cadet world championship. http://ysia.ru/news/19538/the_youth_olympiad_champion_mamedov_was_accused_of_age_understatement.html
AnklePicker 521 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 Comparing that picture with the one on flo's main page...looks like the same person.

Cletus_Tucker 890 Report post Posted August 19, 2015 If true, what a shame. I'd imagine everyone moves up one spot, but still leaves hearts broken and nations disappointed given the on the mat actions may have derailed the true competition at 66 kg. The thing is, even if he's really that old...he BARELY beat Pico and Fujinami, who are both legit Jr age
armspin 257 Report post Posted August 19, 2015 The amount of alleged cheating that goes on in this sport is crazy. No idea if this latest rumor is true but I'm sure some of them are. https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=PLWfeskasuOjCFkHJs1KIDdmW4EJyYIqSJ¶ms=OAFIAVhK&v=LY33HwLvxAM&mode=NORMAL on another note, great back and forth war in the 84 kg Greco finals. Jaroslav Hasek 1,865 Report post Posted August 19, 2015 if that's true about Mammadov, Russia may not want to rock the boat given all the rumors about Sadulaev. I don't think there are a lot of Yakuts in Azerbaijan, but Yakuts and Azerbaijani are both apparently a dialect of Turkish, so maybe it's hard to tell. i dunno. its too bad since it doesn't matter what age they are once you get to the senior level but if your country/federation cares about cadet and junior medals i can see the incentive.
