GuillermoBilletas 149 Report post Posted August 15, 2015 There is no such thing as a check scale at a world championship. Something doesn't smell right. He didn't make weight. Period.
BobDole 967 Report post Posted August 15, 2015 Bob, good point. Are the scales only to 1 decimal? If so, a bit trickier to calibrate. And coaches should know the situation and proper guidance should be given .... And acted on. Is it true there is only one shot given? Regarding numbers, conversion is .22 pounds. If one decimal and standard rounding procedures, he could have been 0.109 pounds over and still made it. Just aiming for clarity. I get the issue of the scales not matching. I had a kid a few years ago at FILA Cadets weigh in at 139lbs for the 63kg/138.75lbs weight class. when he changed the scale to kg, it showed 63.0kg. When you are weighing in in kilograms there is a lot less fluctuation between scales than in pounds.

gimpeltf 1,485 Report post Posted August 15, 2015 BTW- Here are the UWW (I pronounce it Ewww!!!) rules pertaining to weighins. I redded the line about how often they can get on the scale. CHAPTER 3 – COMPETITION PROCEDURE Article 11– Weigh-In The final list of contestants must be submitted to the organiser by the team leader, without fail, 6 hours before the start of the weigh-in. No changes will be accepted after this time. For all competitions, a single weigh-in by weight category shall take place. The weigh-in for each category always takes place on the day before the beginning of the competition concerned and lasts 30 minutes. If, after 30 minutes, there are still some wrestlers to be weighed, the time may be extended until all wrestlers are weighed. No wrestler may be accepted at the weigh-in if he has not undergone a medical examination within the time period stipulated in the Regulations governing the competition in question. Medical examinations are always carried out before the weigh-in. A period of fifteen (15) minutes between the medical examination and the weigh-in must obligatorily be followed. Wrestlers must appear at the medical examination and the weigh-in with their licence, passport and wrestlers’ booklet. The contestants will be weighed with only their singlet, after having been examined by qualified physicians who are obliged to eliminate any wrestler who presents any danger of contagious disease. No weight tolerance will be allowed for the singlet. Contestants must be in perfect physical condition, with their fingernails cut very short. Throughout the entire weigh-in period, wrestlers have the right, each in turn, to get on the scale as many times as they wish. The referees responsible for the weigh-in must check that all wrestlers are of the weight corresponding to the category in which they are entered for the competition, that they fulfil all the requirements of Article 5 – Competitor’s Dress - and to inform any wrestler of the risk he runs if he presents himself on the mat in incorrect dress. Referees will refuse to weigh a wrestler who is not dressed correctly. 1 Housebuye reacted to this
Housebuye 2,079 Report post Posted August 15, 2015 Can the US realistically win with one of our favorites not making weight? I'm not too familiar with the team scoring. With Russia not doing well, do we have a shot if wr can pull off a few upsets? We are looking solid so far.

Could you run a couple laps and then weigh in again, as long as you stay in the room or something? He was so close that just working up a mild sweat would likely have done the trick. 2td3nf 536 Report post Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Didn't go out there and score points. Let his opponent hang around. justafan 123 Report post Posted August 15, 2015 I was thinking with 1 min left Hall better get a takedown here or Nagy is gonna still this match and Hall never pulled the trigger Nagy wrestled a great tactical match gotta give his coaches credit for that one.I know people are gonna say Nagy ran the whole match but we have lost 100s of international matches the same exact way we gotta start finding ways to score against international guys from top to bottom
