crablegs 39 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) Can he get down to 65 kg to take a shot at making the Olympics next year? He would be a real challenge to Metcalf in the US. LemonPie 1,368 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 Doubt it, but I'm sure Metcalf would find a way to beat him and crush our dreams of a medal 5 TheRealOne9050, scribe, Shiraz123 and 2 others reacted to this
GoNotQuietly 1,175 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 I don't see him getting down to 143 lbs and having anything left which makes him dynamic, exciting, and successful. Stupid weight class reduction strikes again
BigTimeFan 1,141 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 How is it even a discussion? He wrestled 157 in college, 65kg is 143lbs. Was he not cutting weight in college?
Billyhoyle 2,479 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 Yes, he will make the weight. Â I think he made it as recently as last year right?
GoNotQuietly 1,175 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 The question is whether he can make it and still wrestle, what ? 6 matches in one day against the best in the world?
GranbyTroll 452 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 He didn't cut for 149 about 16 months ago. And about 12 months ago he easily made it down to 66kg
NJDan 1,076 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 What makes you think he didn't cut for 149? If that's true, why did he wrestle 157?
lu_alum 920 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 I thought he went 157 for Nebraska's lineup. Didn't the Huskers have Sueflohn and another good guy at 149.? 1 ConnorsDad reacted to this

de4856 371 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 I don't think he gets to 65Kg. and has enough to get past Metcalf. I think Pico is more of a realistic option. I think we need to figure out what we're going to do at 86Kg. I love Jake, but I just don't see him making an impact internationally anymore. Another question is will Trevel be back in top form? mightymousejm125 7 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) If he is able to drop, he has roughly 3-4 months to make weight for the U.S. Open, so he can space out the weight dropping. It doesn't appear he has a lot of weight to lose but if he and the coaching staff thinks he can do tas hat AND be able to go through Pico an Metcalf at 65 KG to make the team, then I would think he's the best chance of bringining home an Olympic medal at that weight. Which hasn't been done since...2004. How much overstrength will he lose if he cuts down that far? Could he bump up to wrestle 86 KG effectively in 3-4 months? His tenacity and that got him to the semi-finals this week was what the US Team needs in order to come away with another medal in Rio. Cletus_Tucker 890 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 I don't see how he makes it.  I'd love to see him do it, but I would be very surprised.  This is most likely Pico's weight.
