2td3nf 582 Report post Posted February 9, 2016 Congrats to Tony Nelson silver in Istanbul, Zach Rey 5th, and Tervel bronze in Paris. Any videos of those matches posted, in particular the Akgul matches? This will be another hot weight class at the Trials............gotta qualify the weight
armspin 257 Report post Posted February 10, 2016 Speaking of heavyweight... Any possibility Taymazov tries for 4?
PRyan2012 347 Report post Posted February 10, 2016 Taymazov would get killed by Akgul. He is a fossil now but could compete with everyone other than Akgul though.

Shiraz123 822 Report post Posted February 10, 2016 When did Akgul get this good? I thought either him or Makhov would win worlds but the way he won shocked me. In 2014 worlds he was winning but some of them were very close matches. Now he just smashes guys. He's gotten so much better, seems unbeatable now. 1 TheRealOne9050 reacted to this
2td3nf 582 Report post Posted February 10, 2016 Akgul is fantastic. If he takes you down, you're going to get turned. Just love his instant offense, match after match, no less coming from one of the big boys at HWT. Didn't find the Zach Rey-Akgul match yet, but did see a few of the other Rey and Nelson matches last night going through the Yasar Dogu archives. Nelson looked huge compared to some of his other opponents, but he didn't look huge against Akgul. Akgul's a pretty big guy, I guess. Thought Nelson was aggressive offensively and wrestled real well through his bracket. Enjoyed the pin! Only saw 2 of Zach Rey's matches, and he looked like he had more offense than he usually displays. I'd like to see Zach tap into his potential and break out more and more offense in the future. IMO, he really looks like a big strong athletic HWT that is capable of scoring a lot of points if he puts the pedal to the medal. Now, gotta try to find the Rey-Akgul match. Off to the archives! cornercoach 448 Report post Posted February 10, 2016 Was just watching a few Taha Akgul (TUR) matches on youtube, and didn't realize how much offense this guy has for a heavyweight. Beautiful assortment of takedowns right to trapped arm guts, or killer leg laces, or whatever, for tech falls. Fun to watch. Would love to see Zach Rey open it up like that. .... watched Taha on youtube- - - wow, he moves like DT!!!!....

Not IF he takes you down, he WILL take you down, the guy's takedown is as good as his leg laces. 1 2td3nf reacted to this
