Very cool lineup - thanks for posting this.

One question, how are Stieber/Kennedy and Taylor/Foster attending? They weren't invited/qualified, and the U.S. only had one slot at 65 and 86kg, respectively. Or are the countries allowed to allocate their substitutions from any weight?

This should be interesting, I think this tournament should give us all a little more to analyze after it is all said and done with. As mentioned above, looking for Results from Stieber, Valencia, and Taylor, I will also be looking at Jimmy Kennedy ( who has a history of doing well overseas the past 2 or 3 years, so I look to see him do well ). I also want to see if Clayton Foster can regain some of his earlier form, and JD, ( who is a stud domestically but has a hard time getting wins against some of the elite foreign guys ). Should be fun, hopefully it's being streamed somewhere.

97 should be fun. will this help determine the Rio rep then? Also did Ghasemi get the time off approved by his modeling agency?

There will be a trial for all 6 weights in next few months, only Tahan is already qualified for that by winning the quota, Yazdani and Mohammadian have to participate in Takhti Cup to secure their place in final trials

but I also think this is somehow a trial, coach Khadem will invest more on whoever wins here.

Wrestfan, is Taghavi finished? He never wrestled in nationals.

it seems so, he didn't wrestle in nationals last week and therefore he will miss the Takhti Cup and the trials. (unless they give him a wild card which is unlikely)

in Takhti Cup maximum 4 in each weight advance, maximum top 3 per weight + 1 wild card from Takhti Cup participants

so we will have maximum 5 in each weight for the final trial, 3+1 from Takhti Cup + whoever wins the quota. beside that Hassan Yazdani is also qualified by winning a world medal in a non-Olympic weight.

btw we had Iranian nationals last week, here are the winners

Mostafa Damadi (57), Mehran Nasiri (61), Morteza Ghiasi (65), Saeid Dadashpour (70), Mostafa Hosseinkhani (74), Javad Ebrahimi (86), Amir Mohammadi (97) and Reza Mousavi (125)

So Hassan is already qualified for the Olympic trials?

Yes as far as I know, Yazdani, Ghasemi, Tahan, Rahimi, Karimi and Mohammadi are already qualified. plus whoever qualifies 125kg for Iran. everybody else has to participate in Takhti Cup.

Do you know what will happen to wrestlers at non olympic weights in Takhti? For example Iman Sadeghi wants wrestle at 65 for the Olympic trials but said he will be at 61 for the Takhti. Can he qualify through there or is his only chance a wild card?

Wow Iran sends there top three guys at 97k!!! Varner and Snyder took care of Iran's #2 and #3 guys earlier this year. JD and Kilgore will know where they stand! Can't wait to see how Taylor does!

I just know for those weights, Takhti Cup acts as final trial , there is no Olympic for them but still there are other tournaments like Asian Championship and World Cup.

they didn't announce anything about that but I think if the Takhti Cup winner goes to win the Asian Championship or shine at the World Cup , they will probably give him a wild card for the Olympic trials.
