Tsirtsis vs. Ciamto

Recommended Posts

Nice win for Cimato.  Gotta give him credit.  Tsirtsis had a tough off season.  I think his biggest defeat in his first two seasons was 5-3 to dardanes and 5-3 to Grajales.  Just looking through track results he got taken down twice and got ridden for 3 min.  Wow

Tsirtis looked totally flat. He was ridden in the third, could not get out. Never even took a shot from neutral when he was losing. Very disappointing performance...expected more from an NCAA champ. Almost like he can't generate any offense whatsoever. Ciamato wrested a great match...two nice shots from neutral that he finished well.

Looks like Zain will be moving up to #1.

When has Tsirtsis ever taken a shot from neutral?  Doesn't he play for 1-1 and SV or TB?

Tsirtsis injured his elbow (or aggravated a previous injury) in the match. Cimato probably beats him anyway, based on how it went, but it definitely affected his ability to wrestle. Here's the match (if you have a Flo membership): http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/252554-Grapple-at-the-Garden-2015/video/806886-149lbs-Match-Matt-Cimato-Drexel-vs-Jason-Tsirtsis-Northwestern

Thanks for posting and I agree Cimato was the better wrestler this day. Tsirtsis looked like he couldn't be bothered for the first half of the match and then Cimato took him down with a legit shot and then cranked on his elbow. Tsirtsis howled. Cimato was cranking pretty hard. But in the third Cimato got another sweet td and then a stall point as Tsirsis looked debilitated with his elbow and all.

Tough does not adequately describe Tshirts' offseason. He needs a break and a mental readjustment. He had zero has left by the third. I can't remember the last time an NCAA champ literally just lay there hoping for the match to end. I'm sure he hurt his elbow but it was as much a gas problem as anything else.

A very tough off season to say the least. Elbow surgery, two very tragic deaths to deal with and his coach getting fired. If you know him you know that he is a very kind hear-ted young man who needs time to heal emotionally, and in this case physically as well. He is tough, very tough but he's human as well. Give him time and he will be just fine.

Not to compare matches between two different opponents, but there are some interesting things about this match.  Cimato seemed to handle Tsirtis pretty easily and meanwhile, he was beaten by a tough Sal Mastriani at Nationals last year.  Looking at what Retherford did to Mastriani in the VA Tech makes Zain look even more impressive now.  Wonder how that match between Tsirtis and Retherford will go.
