Pa States

Recommended Posts

Looking forward to Pa States this year.  A couple items that I noticed and interested in other thoughts:

126 AA looks loaded.  Three state champs in the weight and another kid who has been 2nd/3rd.  Matthews, Gabriel, Murin and Courtney.

Also noticed that previous champ, Lane was beaten in regionals by a kid who has never placed at states.

Sasso/Pletcher in the 1/4's is the equivalent of Imar/Nolf meeting before finals, it just shouldn't be happening. But we all know seeding is not changing.

hvr, if you go through the AAA brackets, there are a lot of high profile match ups in the 1/4s

285 has 28-0 vs 40-0 in the 1/4's as well.

Pletcher got warned with 1:13 to go in neutral with the score 2-1, never took another step forward, tried repeatedly to drag action out of bounds with Sasso on a single, and never got hit for stalling again.  This match really should have been decided in OT.

Courtney at 126 looks real tough knocking off Gabriel(8-3) and Matthews(9-3). If he can beat Murin tomorrow in finals, he will have beaten 3 defending champs in one tournament. Has that happened before?

No it hasn't happened before. Not to mention that there have never been 3 returning state champs in the bracket before.

I remember when the Hughes brothers were seniors and Kolat was a junior. PIAA delayed the start of the finals so that people could go outside and sell tickets to people trying to get in. Now so many people, including many of my friends, will be at the giant Center thru AAA semis, then watch on tv. We still seem to have a lot more than the BB finals though.
