Who the US should cheer for at this weekend's Asia Olympic qualifier

Here are some individuals/nations we should cheer for to advance to the Olympics this weekend so they're out of the talent pool for the world olympic qualifier events.  Them getting upset or loaded all on one side of the bracket so nobodies qualify for the Olympics just crowds the waters for us getting through the world qualifiers:

 

Freestyle:

65kg: Kim-North Korea (withdrew from worlds after 2 nice wins and a 5-2 loss to Chamizo), Katai-China (beats world medalist Kaya before falling in tight match with Metcalf at worlds), India (maybe Kumar?...5th at worlds, 6-6 loss in bronze match), Kazakhstan (Okassov?...lost 7-2 to Asgarov-Aze at worlds)

86kg: Only Iran have qualified here. #8  Ultumen-Mongolia (Asia runner-up, 1 match from qualifying the weight at worlds), #15 Kakhidze-Kazakhstan (Asia #3--Davlumbayev also strong at worlds last year)

 

Greco-Roman:

59kg: Iran, Japan, China all have guys in the top 20 in the world who have placed highly at big international tournaments

66kg: Only S. Korea qualified here.  #10 Zeidvand-Iran, Zahdrayev-Kaz (lost 4-3 to bronze medalist at worlds, beat Martinez of Cuba who rolled through Pan Am qualifier), numerous other good Greco nations here also

98kg: Only Iran qualified here. #5 Xiao-China (lost tight match in quarters at worlds, Hungarian GP champ), Iskakov-Kaz (lost 7-4 to Xiao at worlds)

 

Ladies' freestyle:

48kg: Kim-N. Korea (lost 5-5 to Lampe at worlds), Amanzhol-Kaz (razor thin loss to bronze medalist and competitive loss to silver medalist at worlds)

53kg: #14 Erdenechimeg-Mongolia, #18 Nguyen-Vietnam, Eshimova-Kaz (2-0 loss to bronze at worlds), Kumari-India (quarterfinalist at worlds)

58kg: #7 Tynybekova-Kyrgyzstan (at worlds, handled Canada's Fazzari, who just handled us), #8 Abdildina-Kaz (lost 7-5 to bronze medalist at worlds), #14 Li-China, #18 Baatarjav-Mongolia

69kg: China, japan, Mongolia already qualified...Asia a bit thin at this weight after them.  #9 Syzdykova-Kaz (Yarygin champ, lost 8-6 in quarters at worlds)

65: you have to add Adam Batirov (representing Bahrain) to the list, Yogeshwar Dutt will wrestle for India.

66, Iran will be represented by Olympic Champion Noroozi and not Zeidvand

The rankings themselves don't hold water, but individuals aren't put on them without having had some sort of tangible success--meaning it's an indicator that whoever represents their nation will be a threat to us if we face them.  I just used them as a starting point for looking at who's had success in the past 2 seasons, as a guess for who individuals might be, and--principally--who the favored nations will be.  If a nation didn't have someone at worlds last year (Bahrain/India at 65) I also missed them.  Batirov and Dutt are obviously serious threats.

Results at weights that affect the US on day 1:

 

Greco 59:

Japan and China qualify, with Ota of Japan taking out Soryan of Iran. Ota also beat Tukhtaev of Uzbekistan, who will join Soryan as guys probably favored to block our qualification.

 

Women's 53:

Very deep weight internationally.  Mongolia and Vietnam go through.  Strong performances from India and Uzbekistan also.  They and Kazakhstan will challenge us significantly at the world qualifier.

 

Women's 69:

Only 5 women participated, so virtual guarantee of best going through.  Syzdykova of Kaz rocks everyone as expected.  Taipei's girl takes second, but no one from this region should challenge Mensah or Piroshkova or whoever we send to the world qualifier.

Men's 65:

Dutt and Kim on the same side.  Batirov on the other side with Katai-China, Ashirov-Kaz, and Maeda-Japan, so all 3 of those, plus the Dutt/Kim loser will most likely be in the mix at the world qualifier.

 

Women's 58:

The two top 10 ladies, Kaz and Kyrg, are on opposite sides, with tough girls from China and Mongolia joining Kaz's side.

Dutt handles Kim and Katai controls Batirov easily after Batirov had eliminated Ashirov.  Kim, Batirov, and Ashirov will all most likely be in Mongolia.

 

Women's 58:

The Mongolian destroys the very tough Abdildina of Kaz.  Abdildina and tough girls from India and China don't go through from that side of the bracket.  Also, Tynybekova needed a miracle to escape Jong of North Korea, who should be considered a favorite over anyone we send to Mongolia.  Just placing top 3 against all these girls from the Asian region would be a nice accomplishment.  This will be a tough bracket for us in Mongolia if everyone eligible from Europe and Asia ends up there.
