GoNotQuietly 861 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 Looks like it might have been a huge blessing in disguise that 86kgs wasn't already qualified and Cox can build world level competition confidence. I'm blown away by how well he is performing, and he could do some huge damage to anyone who isn't Sadulaev at Rio
Perry 1,175 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 Not saying he is going to beat sadulaev, but he's looking really good and anything is possible...
straggler 65 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 My understanding is that 86kg is loaded. The 86kg in Mongolia was not the strongest, but when you see Cox standing next to these guys he looks huge for the weight. His height and wingspan are noticeable. So you have a guy who is a very good athlete who is big for the weight who has height and reach. That is potential.
lu_alum 690 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 Who's to say Cox can't have a run in Rio like Herbert did in 09 I believe. Herbert had a 2009 run in Rio?

GoNotQuietly 861 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 (edited) Here are FloWrestling's rankings at 86kgs. It looks like a (relatively) sparse and weak weight class internationally to me, for an Olympic year. http://www.flowrestling.org/ranking/1077-aldatov-continues-to-have-consistency-issues/2016-04-20/86kg Edited April 24, 2016 by GoNotQuietly

Katie 723 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 Batirov vs. Gor. If Batirov wins, Garcia is pulled back in. If Gor wins, Molinaro is pulled back in.
Billyhoyle 1,987 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 Batirov has been hitting that arm throw all day.

GoNotQuietly 861 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 pretty clear here that batirov is the better wrestler of the two. This weight class is absolutely filthy all over the place.
lu_alum 690 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 better book tickets for Turkey.
Billyhoyle 1,987 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 As tough as it is to see Molinaro get eliminated, I'm glad to see Batirov qualify. I feel like he probably would already be a multi time world/olympic champion if not for his brother. Would be a great story if he were to take home a medal. GoNotQuietly 861 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 (edited) Safaryan will have Novachkov and Gor will have I think Habat in the "consi semis" Three of those 4 will be joining Frank in Turkey. Still a pretty tough road. Edited April 24, 2016 by GoNotQuietly

lu_alum 690 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 was ivanov pinned?
TripNSweep 464 Report post Posted April 24, 2016 That was a pretty wild match. Ivanov jumps out to a big lead and almost pins Nagy. Nagy comes back with 2 pushouts, then a takedown and a gut to make it 7-6, then he almost has another gut in the last 15 seconds but Ivanov counters it at the last second for a 2 point exposure, then Nagy comes out on top for a 1 point reversal, so the final is 9-7. Ivanov headed to Rio.
