Guest Report post Posted January 18, 2013 The Big Ten has several tough and deep weights but I think that 174 stands out. There are 8 (eight) ranked wrestlers in this weight class and 7 (seven) are in the top ten. Storley has put on show against Brown-pin- and Heflin-major- but just got by Kokesh. The list below is the ranked wrestlers in this weight class. I think it is Storley's to lose and he is going to be damn hard to beat. Rank Wrestler 2 Storley Minn 3 Brown PSU 4 Kokesh NEB 6 Evans Iowa 7 Heflin OSU 8 Blanton ILL 9 Munster NU 11 Yates MI

LtWtLooker 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2013 Silly thread indeed. Wonder if long arms is one he listed. The B13 is always tough in every wgt class. In fact they should win 7 at NCAAs and take 10 seconds. I'm not ready to crown DSJ yet and I'm saying Kendrick, JO and Killer win it. Anyone think I'm going out on a limb. Like i said dumb thread. I have to disagree with you. I think it is very noteworthy that there is a weight class that there is a legitimate chance of 7 of the 8 AA's coming from one conference even if it is the B1G. BRGuy 37 Report post Posted January 18, 2013 the bigten has 12 programs in the top 15 for history and resources spent on wrestling is it really a shock to anyone that they may have 7 or 8 top ranked guys at one weight
105Ace 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2013 What makes a specific weight the toughest in a given tourney? Is it the volume of ranked cats in a weight class or the rankings of the biggest dogs? I determined that the lowest number of ranked cats in any one weight in this years Bigs is five, so I averaged the rankings for each weight's top five. I also wanted to average the big dogs in each weight, and used the top three. Then I averaged the two rankings (1-10) to get my initial list of the toughest weights: Avg top 5. Avg top 3. Combo pack 174. 4.4. 133 2.0. 133. 1.5 133. 4.6. 125. 2.7. 174. 2.5 157. 5.4. 157 2.7. 157. 2.7 Hwt. 6.4. 174 3.0. 125. 3.7 125. 6.6. Hwt. 4.0. Hwt. 4.2 184. 7.6. 141. 4.6. 184. 6.2 149. 8.2. 184. 4.6. 141. 7.2 141. 8.8. 149. 5.3. 149. 7.5 165. 9.0. 165. 6.7. 165. 9.0 197. 10.0. 197. 7.6. 197. 10.0 Then it occurred to me that the tru measure of how tough a weight class is by determining how difficult it is for the top ranked dog to win the tourney, and many times that means making it out of the semi's. I determined this by measuring the variance between the top dog and the ranking of the #4 sends and found: Weight. Variance 174. 4 133. 5 157. 6 Hwt. 7 184. 8. T 149. 8. T 141. 9 165. 10 125. 11 197. 11 What does all of this mean? It means that this years OW is the Champ from 133, 174, or 157 unless Q can juggle bowling pins on a unicycle while pinning his way thru the tourney
