skikayaker 93 Report post Posted January 21, 2013 N. Dardanes will likely win with bonus against the undersized Arlis at 141 for a seven point swing in the dual.

Minnesota only has to win one toss up or score bonus points in a match to win.

mvattivo 47 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 Ness in some serious trouble! Is Ness sick or hurt? When you wrestle his style, this is going to happen from time to time. I've seen other matches this year where he was losing to un-ranked wrestlers only to eventually hit them in an elevator or cradle and get the pin. This time, he just never got the pin, and his loose style got him in trouble twice.
backdrft76 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 Wow, both Ness and Dardanes go down in big matches! Hope JRob's knee gets better soon. :?
nom 1,186 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 Illinois bringing it! Very aggressive. Tons of shots. Really going for it. Making a big statement at the light weights. Ness getting destroyed by Ervin is eye opening -- folks talk about a hurt back but apparently he can wrestle in the dual. 133 major was also a WOW! Minny looking pretty vulnerable in the lower weights. Big news. Big news.

I've seen other matches this year where he was losing to un-ranked wrestlers only to eventually hit them in an elevator or cradle and get the pin. This time, he just never got the pin, and his loose style got him in trouble twice. This would argue that he is not a top tier wrestler. Definitely suggests the 149 weight class last year wasn't all that special. I thought Ness was a stud -- this reads like he can get beat by good but not great wrestlers on a regular basis if he can't hit a big move.
krippler 14 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 he was pretty solid last year - just hasn't seemed normal since coming back this year

lightweight 22 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 Thomas with the major! Interesting hands to the face call in the very first period. Perhaps the refs talked about preventing this dual from turning into another MSU-Iowa mess?
nom 1,186 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 Again! Polz with the early shot and TD. Illinois has some really offense minded wrestlers. Good stuff. Fun to watch. Becoming a fan.

nom 1,186 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 Illinois 14-6. If the rest are decisions and Illinois wins one of them, they win the dual. Blanton in on the shot and the TD. Again. They are pulling the trigger!
nom 1,186 Report post Posted January 22, 2013 If Futrell was in the lineup, this could be a 17-3 dual at this point. The shine is coming off of Minnesota a bit here.
