cm_111 77 Report post Posted August 29, 2016 Definitely stand with Flo on this one. I may feel like several of those who represent the company are unprofessional for such a position but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that they did the right thing to run this and explain the issue as it relates to the sport. Long story short they did nothing wrong here at all in my view.
Husker_Du 554 Report post Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) He is a troll and that avatar is over the line, but lets not act like the content providers at flowrestling are the supreme journalists in the sport. You guys do a great job providing streaming content, technique videos, documentaries, and interviews. Also, you are great at hyping upcoming events and past matchups. Overall, it's a huge asset to the sport, and you're largely responsible for making wrestling one of the most accessible fringe sports in the world. With that said, most of your "breaking" of stories is announcing where a kid is going to commit....I know that's something people care about, but it's not anything that puts you above the other journalists in the sport. Like I said in an earlier post, I don't really expect anything more since it is not in any wrestling media outlet's budget to go "spotlight" on an article. Still, don't claim to be something you're not. What were the biggest stories of the past year in wrestling in terms of investigable journalism and who was pushing them? I'm not sure, but my guesses would be: 1. Minnesota wrestling drug ring (pushed by a traditional newspaper) 2. Russian doping scandal (pushed by a traditional newspaper) 3. UWW corrupt officiating (lots of opinion, but no actual investigative reporting as of yet) I don't really see you guys doing investigative journalism on any of this...I'll repeat it one last time: I don't expect it because it's not in your budget (or any wrestling media outlet's budget) and and that's not what makes your website great. hardly just college commitments. If you recall correctly, I broke the Pariano firing. http://www.flowrestling.org/video/988575-wrestling-legends-besik-kudukhov-artur-taymazov-stripped-of-olympic-medals http://www.flowrestling.org/article/45524-ryan-millhof-plans-to-leave-ou http://www.flowrestling.org/article/45275-jason-tsirtsis-transfers-to-arizona-state http://www.flowrestling.org/article/44901-mark-cody-resigns-at-oklahoma from the past 2 weeks. again - we break more news, maintain more contacts, provide more analysis, do more previews and recaps than anyone in wrestling and it's not close. You are doing a fantastic job on breaking stories. My apologies in not clarifying my remarks on churnalism. I can see were it can be viewed as an overt generalization of your work. Now, concerning the Marstellar fiasco, what has been presented right now is a churn of the local news source, which IMO is perfectly acceptable. No need to dive into the muck for gossip. Keep up the good work and try not to offend the French by drinking boxed wine!

As you should -- Flo's manpower alone dwarfs everyone else by a large margin. Combine that with hustle and you've got breaking news. As far as the Marsteller thing, it was reported by another outlet first - zero issue with Flo posting it. I posted it in my daily newsletter as well. It is news. Interesting to see how your views on Flo have evolved over the years. Any chance that has happened with Title IX? Husker_Du 554 Report post Posted August 29, 2016 np. billy. i get it. we do run/churn stuff that other sources break, as does most reputable publications. (just b/c the times runs a piece doesn't mean the washington post won't run and cite it on their site afterwards). we're not the washington post and woodward and bernstein, but our guys maintain contacts, talk to people constantly, and do a great job breaking stories. i'm proud of our staff in that regard, and it often gets overlooked. Never compare your credibility with your audience to that of the Post or Times. They have none and exemplify the death of the modern newspaper. Crap, crap, and more crap. And stop y'all making excuses for CM, the kid needs help.

You guys have been great for wrestling! But you said you broke the pariano firing but you never stated why or what happened? I'm having trouble believing that flo doesn't know the story behind the firing, or did i miss that in that in the story you broke? Marstellar was a big story and have no problem with what you guys did. Edited August 30, 2016 by smitty11
