How old is Teymouri? Why do the coaches want him?

I think he is 21 or 22. he was training partner in national camp in past few months and apparently they were happy with his improvement. he was supposed to wrestle in Baku GP but changed mind since his club called him for the World Clubs Cup. despite his good performance they went for Afzali and his experience for the final dual which was costly for them

They will keep eyes on few younger/relatively unknown wrestlers this year . Talaei himself named few like him, Rashidi at 70, Mohebbi at SHW, Bazri at 74, Yeganeh-Jafari at 65.

Yazdani's weight climb is pretty crazy, wasn't he at 66kg for juniors? 66 to 70 to 74 to 86 within what, 3 years?

Exactly what i was thinking. In particular, how did he go from able to make 74 kg to 88 kg in half a year?? That is a serious growth spurt. I call BS on him currently weighing 88 kg (no offense, Shiraz, it's just hard to believe).

One of the coaches of the national team said he is 88kg now. Here is the article about it, i'm sure google translate can get the general point across:

http://www.isna.ir/n...-وزن-74-کیلوگرم

In fact they even said that even if Hassan himself wants to go back to 74 they will not let him because making the cut is too risky now. So he has to be an 86 from now on.

Although I am also surprised he has gotten this big, I thought he was the perfect size for 74. We will see how his body looks soon I suppose.

I disagree, Dake went from 141 to 165 from 18-21. At 165 I don't think he was cutting much. From 70kg to 88 kg in 15 months is 60+ pounds, not even a close comparison.Yes I understand at 70kg I'm sure he was cutting weight but in Vegas he didn't look huge. That's a lot of weight in that amount of time.

70 kg to 88 kg = 18 kg = 39 lbs

And there's a good chance his walk-around weight was more like high 70s, so we're really most likely only talking about a walk-around gain of 20-25 pounds for a guy who I think was not yet 20 at the 2015 worlds.  Again, this is growth, but not unprecedented growth for a kid his age.  Even the total growth from maybe low 70s walk-around for making 66kg up to 88kg now is only roughly 35 pounds.  It's just not that unusual in a lot of slightly late-blooming young men's cases when we're talking about the change from age 18 to age 21.

Except Dake force fed himself and still weighed in several pounds under the 86 kg limit while Yazdsni now has to cut to make 86 kg. Pretty astounding weight gain by the young Iranian stud.

They called up some wrestlers for a mini-camp, I think this is almost the Iranian line-up for the World Cup. interestingly they still list Yazdani at 74. despite the fact that his move to 86kg is confirmed

57, Rahimi / Sarmasti / JalaliBahar

61, Ehsanpour / Biabani / Sadeghi

65, Nassiri / Yeganeh-Jafari

70, Hosseinkhani / Rashidi

74, Yazdani / Yarahmadi / Teymouri

86, Karimi / Goleij / Ebrahimi

97, Mohammadi / Shahbazi / Tahan

125, Ghasemi / Amiri / Taheri / Mohebbi

Iranian friends, is there a literal translation for the name "Jafar" or "Jafaryan" in Persian?

I was thinking that if you wanted to compare his growth to one of ours it would be comparable to what D Taylor did from a 135 lbr at 17/18 tp 165 at 22 and now 189 as acompletely filled out adult.  DT and Yazdani's frames are pretty similiar.

Jafar is also the bad guy in Aladdin, although I cannot vouch for the cultural accuracy of that animated motion picture.

Allow me Jaroslav - I took a few history classes in high school (non-AP) and can confirm that there is little-to-know cultural accuracy in Aladdin.

So there's a good chance I might be related to a freakin' genie...awesome!

I was looking for the Persian translation if there was one rather than the Arabic, but thanks, appreciated.

This is an Arabic word/name, no Persian translation as far as I know

Yazdani is cashing in on his Olympic Gold and has Mash Donald's as a corporate sponsor. He must have an all-you-can eat deal in the contract.

Sadeghi needs to start getting some good results internationally, this will hopefully be the start.

From the weight he won in 2015 junior worlds Higuchi has done great and Rashidov has been good too.

Nice, Iran is sending a team to the Yarygin. Don't think they've sent a team there the past few years? But great, this adds even more talent to the brackets.

Now, the big question - do the Americans send a team to the Yarygin? Or does the World Cup date conflict, at least with USA's varsity guys. Pretty sure Terry Brands said he likes to go there every year whereas there's usually some Iowa guys entered.
