Yeah would like to see Zare wrestle Geno in this too. Lot of big names wrestling there. The Mall team is stacked pretty good.

Wrestfan, is it possible to get links to this or post the matches afterwards? Thanks.

Semifinal results

57, Nader Hajaghania beat Erfan Aeini  11-8

61, Bagher Yakhkeshi lost to Mohammad Ramezanpour 5-4

65, Mehran Nassiri beat Peiman Biabani 5-0

70, Ahmad Mohammadi beat Omid Khedmati 9-7

74, Khetag Tsabolov beat Masoud Kamarvand 15-4

79, Gadzhi Nabiev beat Alireza Ghasemi 3-2

86, Ahmad Bazri beat Mohammad Zare'ei 10-4

92, Javad Ebrahimi beat Hosseini Jalali 10-2

97, Ali Shaabani beat Sajjad Azizi by fall (5-0)

125, Jaber Sadeghzadeh beat Amir Reza Amiri 5-0

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Atrak beat Tous 5-5 (21-20 in classification points)

57, Reza Azizi beat Mohsen Maleki  6-1

61, Ahmednabi Gvarzatilov beat Arsen Harutyunyan  9-2

65, Morteza Ghiasi beat Amir Hossein Maghsoudi 3-2

70, Sadegh Firouzpour lost to Mehdi Yeganeh-Jafari 3-2

74, Jamal Ebadi lost to Mohammad Nokhodi 7-2

79, Sajjad Gholami lost to Jabrayil Hasanov 5-4

86, Ali Mojerloo lost to Hassan Yazdani 11-1

92, Ezzatollah Akbari beat Meisam Mostafa-Jokar 4-1

97, Mojtaba Goleij lost to Esmaeil Nejatian 2-1

125, Geno Petriashvili beat Ali Ebrahimi 10-0

all these matches finished with PP (3 pts for winner, 1 for loser) except Geno and Yazdani. Geno teched his opponent without giving up a point while Yazdani gave up a point and that made the difference. Yazdani could bring his team to the final if he could tech the guy 10-0 !!

Goleij once again proved weak in local matches. Maghsoudi losing to Ghiasi was disappointing too.

best throw of the day belonged to Shaabani. I didn't know he is capable of that. if it wasn't for the internet shutdown in Iran we would see lots of clips in instagram from that throw and fall.

Zare beat Geno in the final!

I don't want to get too excited by this result but if you'll excuse me, I must shout from my roof how Zare is now the #1 125kg FS wrestler in the world. Jokes aside, very impressive result from Zare and Hadi has some real problems to qualify for 2020 now!

70, Farhad Nouri lost to Mehdi Yeganeh-Jafari 4-2

Final: Iran-Mall beat Atrak 9-1

92, Alireza Karimi beat Masoud Madadi 3-0

97, Mohammad Hossein Mohammadian beat Mojtaba Goleij by walkover

125, Amir Hossein Zare beat Geno Petriashvili 15-11

Zare beating Geno was indeed surprising but one takedown was almost enough for Geno to tech Zare. he had 4 gut wrenches and almost the 5th one to finish the match 12-2 but Zare survived and then he beat Geno when he gassed. it was impressive for Zare but people should not get too excited about this.

@wrestfan

lol I wrote it about not getting too excited before reading yours.

but seriously speaking even against both Geno and Akgul if Zare survives the first period he can beat them in second period. they both have conditioning problems even when they are 100% in shape. but that's a big if, we know how good they are in executing gut wrench. but Zare also can improve his par-terre defense , I'm sure he never faced anybody as good as Geno before.

but, I'm not so sure if Zare's style works well against both Hadi and Mohebbi. they are both very big and won't get tired easily.  but who knows, he is improving.

Akgul's cardio is worse than Petriashvili's. Petriashvili can't compete with Akgul when Akgul is fresh.

Btw what was Zare's first takedown? I saw the match but looked away at that part. Without that he loses 10  - 0.

Definitely a very strong win regardless since Zare is a junior.

At worlds Geno won as Akgul gassed out in the second period, so that's a good sign to out-cardio the guy who just won his world gold by out-cardoing Taha. I agree with everything you wrote. I don't think Hadi usually gasses out but with his age and injuries I think he will be vulnerable to Zare.

But whatever, I think we can be excited about a 18 year old U23 champ that just beat the current senior world champ :-)

Hopefully we get to see Mohammadian vs Sharifov in Russia tomorrow/Saturday. Last time they wrestled was in 2015 when Sharifov won 6-4 I think.

There's also Odikadze (the Georgian that beat Shabani at worlds '19) and Salas for Mohammadian to face off against (Salas beat Mohammadian 4-2 in the QF of Worlds '14, where Mohammadian won Bronze).

Should be a fun reunion!

apparently Mohammadian teched Anzor Urishev 11-0 for the bronze. losing to Sharifov is a bit disappointing though.

Bazri beat Ianulov and Rashid Kurbanov (6-2) to face Magomed Ramaznov (Russia) in the final tomorrow.

------------------------------------------------------------

this is Shaabani's move in the Iranian League final 4. that was interesting mostly because I didn't expect such a thing from Shaabani.  in Persian they call the technique "Ugly and Beauty" ! lol

Bazri lost in the final dual 3-2. His very weak leg attacks will always be a problem for him when he faces a guy who can handle his underhook as he does not have other ways to score.

Interestingly in the final at 97 after beating Mohammadian Sharipov lost to Zhabrailov 5-2. Zhabrailov is the same wrestler that Karimi ran over in the semi finals at worlds a few months ago before losing to Cox.
