yeah I saw that video. someone from Uganda maybe. lol

that was a stupid format. as you probably know Pahlavani wresting is a part of "Zurkhaneh sports" which also includes some other disciplines, this time only athletes from other disciplines were allowed to wrestle and the outcome was disastrous. none of them were real wrestlers, specially that guy.

So it was athletes from random sports doing wrestling? lol I wonder what sport the Iranian guy does. Why are they doing all this promotion of Zurkhaneh sports recently?

Yes . it's like using powerlifters or weightlifters to wrestle !

in past they were wrestling specialists, but as you know it's a bit different than freestyle, so Iranians always dominated it, so they used this "new format" to give medals to the rest, and Iran ended up without a single gold medal lol

don't ask me . this is probably a fun thing for people practice it but extremely boring to watch.

I love how serious the other guy is (the loser) and the official. This Ugandan just destroyed the ancient and honourable Pahlevani wrestling LOL.

The comments show how angry people are.

This Zimbabwean guy is a legend I have to say. Has Zimbabwe qualified 125kg for the Olympics? With 6-7 months of training he is a gold medal threat in my opinion.

Zare finally has some real competition.

Look at this guys footwork. Look at the movement. You never know which way he's going to go. In and out, left right. Left left right. Right left left right right. He prefers to wrestle from a distance. He also taunts the opponent and gets in their head. In my opinion this guy would mentally frustrate Zare and his movement would be too much to deal with. Not saying he'd destroy Zare but he'd control him for a 4-1 win.

Look at that incredible pin at the end. Zare will have nightmares about getting brutally thrown on his back and pinned like that.

Guys if you wanted to see Geraei-Kaviani match. this is right at the start of this video.

https://www.telewebion.com/episode/2196811

unfortunately the live coverage starts with Kaviani challenging the call (and not start of the match) to me that was 4pts and a 9-0 win for him.

and you can see yourself if Geraei pinned him later or not.

another thing, the guy in the corner is NOT Mohammad Ali Geraei as the commentator says, apparently they have another brother. that's him !

The freestyle coaches asked the refereeing committee to review two of Takhti Cup matches, both included Meisam Nasiri ! one of them against Amir Mohammad Yazdani and another against Amir Hossein Maghsoudi.

they did and while the call stands for Nasiri/Yazdani match, they changed the call for the other match and now they consider Maghsoudi as the winner of that semifinal match ! even though they are not going to change the official results but at least for the coaches and the trial process Amir Hossein Maghsoudi is considered as the Takhti Cup winner ! we will see soon if that changes anything but I assume that will justify sending Maghsoudi to the Asian Championships.

Did you watch the Nasiri - Maghsoudi match? If so do you agree with the change?

unfortunately it's hard to remember something you watched almost a month ago. I tried to find the video but only found highlights of the match (not all actions included). there was a bad call near the end of the match (it was 2-2 but they gave it only 2-0 for Nasiri) but I'm not sure if that's the questionable call or they fixed the score later on that action but I assume this is the call in question.

In general, who looked like the better wrestler to you?  Nasiri or Maghsoudi?

Nasiri wasn't the better wrestler in any of his wins, he just outsmarted everybody as far as I remember.

Zanganeh has won the Canadian nationals at 74kg. Considering Burroughs already qualified the weight for America I am guessing there is a decent chance he will qualify the weight for Canada and go to the Olympics.

he wrestled for Iran last year in Worlds U23. I don't think he will be eligible for them before 2021. but who knows he made up a fake story with some of his friends in the media about being shot in the eye in Iran. maybe they give him special permission because of that, but that's unlikely and from his pictures in Canada, his eyes look fine to me ! better than mine at least lol
