That was misunderstanding, apparently he was asked somewhere if everything is in place will you come back ? and he said yes why not.

he made it clear again since "the situation is not perfect" he has no intention to come back. and that's probably the best for him. as far as I know he never lost to Iranian wrestlers since his 2008 Olympic trials defeat to Taghi Dadashi. this is better for him to keep it this way.

That makes a lot more sense.  I was very surprised to read that interview implying he is coming back

just read an interview with Kamran Ghasempour, he claims his knee is much better now, he talked to specialists and he was told he doesn't need a surgery, just has to be careful for a while. and he claims he feels his knee is OK now !

he also said he thinks he will never change weight and his entire career will be at 86kg ! specially considering Olympic weights, going up or down is impossible for him.

not sure what's Yazdani's plans, we heard some rumors that he will move to 92kg after the Olympics for a while to later decide what he wants to do for the next Olympics, but they were just rumors. having both Olympics and Worlds next year , I won't be surprised if they consider sending Ghasempour to the 2021 Worlds in Norway.  but it's too early to say.

Hadi is getting more and more outspoken about his unfair treatment in the past

https://www.khabarvarzeshi.com/fa/news/257122/هادی-۱۰-بار-اول-شدم-اما-دو-بار-انتخابم-کردند

and this is mostly nonsense. when exactly he won the trials ? which year ? he says he deserved both Olympics but

in 2012, he won the quota in one of the qualifiers, so they gave him a pass to the final round of trials. Komeil first beat Masoumi and then beat Hadi in wrestle-off. they wrestled for 5 periods instead of 3 ! bcz Khadem decided to cancel the ball draw and periods finishing in 0-0 considered annulled. Komeil won period 4 and 5. both of them 1-0.

and we all know what happened in 2016, again Komeil beat him in the wrestle-off (2 to 1 in best of 3 series). he claims he won the trials 10 times !!! really ? did he even wrestled in 10 national trials in his entire career ? I have to check my archive but as far as I remember he went to the worlds whenever he won the trials.

What year was it that Iran pulled back its team in middle of the tournament, because someone wrestled Israel, and who was the wrestler?

Bijan Seifkhani

and in 1983, it was in middle of the Greco competition and before the start of the freestyle. they called both FS and GR team home.

btw Iran didn't participate in the World Championships in freestyle only 4 times.

1979, right after the revolution and USA was the host, no political relationship

1983, the reason I explained above

1986, because of the Asian Games in Seoul

1987, apparently Iranian team denied visa by France

* Iran also once sent the B team to the 1974 Worlds because of the Asian Games in Tehran.

Being honest: Haven't read all 73 pages.  Just came here to ask:

Any chance H. Yazdani goes 97 keggers for next year's Olympics?

Wishful thinking, I'm sure.  I believe he's one of the best P4P wrestlers of this millennium, and think he would do better than most folks likely think.

I highly doubt it.  Perhaps if he continues to get big and has trouble making weight, but I don't think so.

Now, I am obligated to reprimand you for not reading all the 73 pages before posting on this thread.  If it happens again, I will be forced to report you to the admin :)

A shame.

Imagine a bracket where half the previous Olympic's Champions were/are in the same bracket.

I hope by now you are at least up to page 43 :)

Iran already has a pretty promising guy at 97 Kg.  Of course because he doped in the past, if he does well, there was always be an asterisks next to his name

I practice speed reading, read it all. Quiz me!

That said, still want 3 Oly champs 25 and under in the same Bracket.

Just no gold. Silver and 2 Bronze up for grabs still.

How?  You said all three in one bracket

Someone from the easy bracket will get Silver, one of the champs gets gold, someone from our nightmare bracket gets bonze, and some lucky guy from Belgium or somewhere gets the other bronze from the other bracket

If Sad and Snyder are there they get the 1 and 2 seed(as if now).

Yazdani is on one side or the other, drawn in.

He faces one or the other along the way and loser gets drawn back into repechage, assuming both make the finals.

OK, I misinterpreted what you meant by same bracket.  I thought you wanted everyone on the same side

IMO, this is one of the best threads on the forum. So much pure international wrestling discussion with some very knowledgeable wrestling fans. Also really enjoy when these posters back up their points of view with relevant wrestling videos, articles and interviews, with translations when needed.

Thanks for your kind words.  I believe I deserve primary credit.  I post incorrect statements, and that forces @wrestfan @Shiraz123and @The Genius to post videos, articles and interviews to show that I was wrong.  My contributions are invaluable to this thread :)

I think it's over for Hadi since they moved the Olympics. He can't beat Zare in 2021.

I have to agree with you.  I don't even know if he'll be able to get passed Foroutan in a year.

Agreed, easily one of the best if not the best thread on the forums.  In addition to everything you said I'll add what I think is the most important thing -  when the main people here disagree they do it respectfully and QUICKLY.  They don't go back and forth for pages, they don't try to get the last word in, they concede points to the other side, they don't fill it up with straw men and personal attacks and at the end of the day they agree to disagree and move on.  They make the thread about the wrestling and not their opinions, it's glorious.

Is it confirmed they will stay have the worlds with the Olympics are happening? I kind of assumed if there is an Olympic they will cancel the worlds?
