NJDan 1,073 Report post Posted March 12, 2017 Minnesota (2001) famously won the NCAAs with no finalists, but ten All-Americans. But: Has any other team won the NCAAs without at least one champion? What is the lowest number of All-Americans on a winning team?
TNTwrestle 10 Report post Posted March 12, 2017 (edited) The Iowa Hawkeyes won in '77-'78 with no champs and 6 AAs.- 2 2nds, 2 3rds, a 5th and a 6th. Also in 2008-9 with 5 AAs - 2nd, 3rd,2 4ths and a 7th. I'm pretty sure there have been others. Edited March 12, 2017 by TNTwrestle
NJDan 1,073 Report post Posted March 12, 2017 In 2012, Cornell had three champs, plus two more AAs, but managed only 4th as a team. That's surprising. 1 cornercoach reacted to this

lu_alum 920 Report post Posted March 13, 2017 (edited) Oklahoma won the NCAA title in '74 with 4 AAs. They were Big 8 runnerup to OKst and had a so so dual meet season. True... but they also had two champs. There were only 6 AAs awarded back then and you had to lose to a semi-finalist to get pulled into the WB. A lot less points to be had. http://wrestlingstats.com/ncaa/pdf/brackets/NCAA1974.pdf Edited March 13, 2017 by lu_alum
