jcwrestlingfan 3 Report post Posted April 7, 2017 My impression from reading the article was that Indianapolis (Lucas Oil Stadium) or Atlanta (Georgia Dome) might be in play for the rotation along with the possibility of Vegas. 1 websterk149 reacted to this

SetonHallPirate 807 Report post Posted April 7, 2017 (edited) My impression from reading the article was that Indianapolis (Lucas Oil Stadium) or Atlanta (Georgia Dome) might be in play for the rotation along with the possibility of Vegas. Given that the Georgia Dome is closed, and due to be imploded in the next couple of months, I doubt they'll be using there. swoopdown 446 Report post Posted April 7, 2017 Yes Vegas - Showgirls carrying placards introducing the matchups on a mat would be a plus. They could entertain during injury timeouts and challenges. RichB 189 Report post Posted April 7, 2017 I was not at the UNI dome nationals, but heard the sight lines were crappy. Would it be different in any other football Dome? Did any one try to view the action from the worst seats in Detroit, that is the biggest site it has been used by wrestling, but no where near sold out. I expect that would be the practical limit of sight. There is no need for more than 8 mats. It is too bad NHL does not use Olympic Hockey arenas, 200 by 100, not 200 by 85. That would mean sufficient table room. St Louis has a football Dome no longer used. Why does St louis need a domed stadium, even if they got an NFL team. Could it be modified into a fan and competitor friendly (say) 30,00 arena
JasonBryant 1,656 Report post Posted April 7, 2017 It'd be different because the new buildings have a lot of moveable stands to be configured for things beyond football. You're not moving the stands at UNI. You can move them other places to provide different configuration. If people think we're going to plop 8 mats in the middle of a field, that's not how it's going to work.
Michigan wrestling 20 Report post Posted April 7, 2017 The Ncaa played a frozen four at Ford Field in 2010, it was not received well by fans. I don't see the Ncaa moving any wrestling finals to a football stadium. Also, if Las Vegas doesn't get hockey frozen four i doubt they'll get wrestling. gowrestle 633 Report post Posted April 8, 2017 Since when would they allow it to be there? Everything is just speculation. It certainly would not hurt having it in Vegas. NCAA rules prohibit events where sports gambling is permitted---I think.

I'd love for that. I'm from Indy and I'd want to see how the city handles it and would definitely be able to go. Just one time. Plus I hope it'd get schools like iu and Purdue interested in getting some good kids there LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BobDole 967 Report post Posted April 10, 2017 Doing a search for Lucas Oil Stadium basketball you can see what it looks like. https://www.google.com/search?q=lucas+oil+stadium+basketball&espv=2&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwigkZXXmJrTAhUD34MKHfL8CU8QsAQIGQ&biw=1680&bih=920#imgrc=_ They can even cut off half the arena and have more seating than St. Louis. Plus they would have a lot of room for warmup mats and other backstage necessities.

Michigan wrestling 20 Report post Posted April 10, 2017 I would be pretty happy if St. Louis doesn't get one this go around, they have had it enough already. I really don't see the NCAA going to a football stadium, I doubt a football stadium even bid on the NCAA's or we would have know about.

Michigan wrestling 20 Report post Posted April 10, 2017 (edited) It's not easy finding information regarding the bidding process, but looking through news reports, Detroit, St. Louis, Orlando, Philly and Tulsa. Obviously their could be more. I have read that the official announcement will be April 18. Edited April 10, 2017 by Michigan wrestling
