That's exactly what happened to Ramos.

Pretty obvious that Stieber was not sharp at World's.  Typically his losses are highly competitive.  That said--his two losses were to total studs.

As someone who has watched him closely for a long time, he peaked for the previous world tourney.  He was not sharp this cycle.  World Cup, Pan Ams, even the WTT's...he just never really seemed quite the wrestler he had been the previous season.  That may be the weight cut.  Or it may be something else.  Hard to say and I don't want to speculate.  All I know is he's had a brilliant career and stood atop every peak this sport offers save the Olympics.   We'll see whether or not he continues.  But from the standpoint of winning with class and personal conduct, he remains one of the great examples this country has to offer.

Agreed on everything you said.  I thought for sure he would compete through 2020 after last year, but now I'm wondering whether the way he lost will push him toward coaching much sooner.  Lot's of factors at play obviously... weight class, money, personal life (he just got engaged).

If he no longer believes he can compete with the best in his weight, maybe he hangs it up.  Competing in the Olympics is a nice goal but Logan doesn't strike me as the type that's going to hang around and try to sneak in a few bronzes.

Interesting, one of the other threads mentioned Stieber vs Aliev.

So any word on Logan? Will he still wrestle? Will he go back up to 65kg?

And just looking at Aliev, wow, wins World gold at 61kg in 2014 and 2015, then drops to 57 for Rio and wins Olympic bronze then goes back up to 61 for another World gold in 2017.

What's cool in that Aliev went up to 65kg for the 2017 World Cup last February and went 4-0 beating Aksoy (TUR) 12-2, Molinaro (USA) 4-1, Julakidze (GEO) 10-0 and Gogaev (RUS) 2-1.

I’m guessing 65kg. I don’t know if he can do 61kg with same day weigh ins.

He did say he wanted to try 61kg again with the 2 kg allowance for next season.

He needs to have a more direct attack against the big guns. You can't dive in for a TD scramble and expect to score. Logie uses this technique against Americans quite well.

I wish him the best but his mix and match folk\free style isn't as effective against tougher competition and that he has been scouted.

I think he'll be a great college coach, but have to agree. Not discounting his title at all, but nothing points to future success. Especially up in weight.
Lots of accolades to his name, onto next chapter.

When he was a senior and captain, he was interviewed and said he was not great about the vocal aspects of leadership.

Compared to his peers, I think he is less motivated by ego and ambition.

People can't spell Cael around here, so how are they going to spell Streebler correctly?

I have set aside funds to have six Green Bay Packers be my pall bearers, that way they can let me down one final time.

8 years ago you didn't give 2 craps about Cael. Now you are permanently attached to his sack.

8 years ago no one cared about Daton Fix, Mark Hall, or Spencer Lee. 8 years ago, pretty much every college wrestler today was an unknown. then... they go to their college of choice, and are all stars in the eyes of the supporting base. things change... move on

Kinda like how your nose is permanently up Tom Brand's ass.

There's a lot more reason to be nose deep in cael's business than tom brands as well. The two aren't even in the same tier as college coaches.
