pamela 1,334 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 Am I reading the 70kg bracket right thinking that Green got a pretty good draw? Esp for such a stacked weight
sgallan 592 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 Gantry, last official rankings brought sanity to the process and had them ranked Snyder 1, and Sadulev 2.
Gantry 1,872 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 Sure looks like a good draw, don't know the Georgian but his quarter looks very doable. Bottom of bracket definitely tougher... 1 FATMANROLL reacted to this
Gantry 1,872 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 Gantry, last official rankings brought sanity to the process and had them ranked Snyder 1, and Sadulev 2. Given where he is in the bracket I don't think he's seeded. Pretty sure UWW was using a strict points system for seeds... 1 sgallan reacted to this
Crotalus 592 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 Can any of those guys on Snyder's half give him trouble?
Gantry 1,872 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 His first round opponent is an Olympic silver, but that was back in 2004.

GranbyTroll 454 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 70kg Navruzov vs Chamizo first match, with the winner probably getting Ganzorig in the quarters. Green should walk into the Semis and at least 1 of these guys isn't getting a medal. This weight is unreal.
GranbyTroll 454 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 97kg Sadulaev vs Salas first match. This is a repeat of the 2014(?) world finals.

Chamizo and Navruzov are the biggest threats, and he will only face one of them. Yay

Perry 1,429 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 Could the team championship be decided by Snyder vs sad? P4P and team implications on the line? What do you guys think of Burroughs draw?
LemonPie 1,368 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 Could the team championship be decided by Snyder vs sad? P4P and team implications on the line? What do you guys think of Burroughs draw? A long way to go. Burroughs could get upset and quit in the repechage.

pamela 1,334 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 Really hoping JB gets his revenge match with Abdurakhmonov in the semis. It looks like Gomez got a good draw at 65. What happened to Boris?
straggler 65 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 (edited) I predicted JB will win the bronze. But a couple of things. First the US has overperformed. Makes me wonder if certain years are more competitive than others, especially in a post Olympic year. If this was the Olympics I would feel strongly about the bronze prediction. But here we have a super motivated JB off a brutal Rio games. Should I upgrade to silver? Or gold? I'll stay with bronze but my Spidey senses are tingling. Perry 1,429 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 I believe it's been speculated that post Olympic years are generally the most shallow, but I'm not sure if there's facts to actually back that up.
PRyan2012 351 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 I believe it's been speculated that post Olympic years are generally the most shallow, but I'm not sure if there's facts to actually back that up. Well the closest we came to winning the team title was in 2003 and 2011. That would be both right before the Olympics. I don't think it is true much. Yes some greats do retire but I think the level is still the same no matter the year!!

sgallan 592 Report post Posted August 25, 2017 Re Sudalaev/Snyder, when they released the rankings, and their analysis, they showed their hand when they said the final everybody is waiting for. I stand by my statement and said as much before weigh ins.
