Greatest wrestler from each State?

Recommended Posts

Would you say Reece Humphrey and Jason Tsirtsis are in that discussion for Indiana? Tsirstis isn't done yet obviously.

Absolutely, but I still have Angel edging them out. The lack of an NCAA title for Reece and no international results for Tsirtsis is all I need.

Fun fact: Angel and Reece wrestled in the first round of the 2002 Indiana State Tournament at 112lbs. Angel won the match 13-5 and would win that title along with the next 3 to finish as a four timer. Reece would go on to win the next 3 titles, he beat a freshman Andrew Howe to win his 3rd in 2005.

Fun fact:  Reece was a questionable overtime call away from making Kyle Dake a much less substantial NCAA figure.  I remember thinking Reece should have won that semifinal match and would most likely have ended up the Champ that season!

since we are on the subject. Fun Fact: Reece didn't start wrestling until MS and quickly caught on. Nor did he know how much of well respected wrestling figure his father was until he got more involved in the sport. A quick learner and a humble father.

behind the likes of Kevin Jackson, Joe Warren, and Chris Taylor, among others.(blanking on other world medalists). He's one of the best ever from Michigan while in high school but once you add in international accolades, he falls down the rankings.

Steve Fraser, Olympic Gold, Greco Team coach

LOL is right.  In all seriousness though, behind Kyle and Helen the third most credentialed from Maryland would be USNA grad Lloyd "Butch" Keaser. '73 World champ, '76 Olympic silver.

I think the Scher Twins were beasts.  I believe, they were pe free, but they were absolute monsters.  Good old hard boned horses.

I'd like to say something.

Bill and Jim Scherr.

Not Sheer.

Not Scheer.

Not Scher.

For some oddball reason, people just can't seem to get their surname spelled properly. The brothers kicked @$$ on the national and world level, and still this has been going on for YEARS, not just in Peso's post- not coming down on you Peso.

Just sayin....  SCHERR

that is all.

Does Michigan claim Zeke Jones, or did he do most of his wrestling in Arizona?

If the main criteria in Pa is International, then  PIAA. Bobby Weaver. Olympic alternate 76, Olympic Team Member, 80, Gold Medalist 84. World Team member 81-83. And 3 time PIAA champ.
