Best Wrestling State

Recommended Posts

For sake of all our sanity, and hoping for civil discourse, I shall ignore the trolls, and actually answer.

IMO, the "best" state, in a College Wrestling forum is speaking of the good old US of A.  My vote has to go to those states that not only provide the peak of individual accomplishment, but also provide volume (i.e. quantity) in terms of overal quality of wrestlers.  a la NCAA AA's, a la WTT/OTT participation, interstate High School meets like Beast, Ironman, Powerade, etc.etc. etc. etc.

On that note, in no particular order, my top three are probably Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Illinois.

Oklahoma for giving us John Smith.

Iowa for giving us Dan Gable.

California for the Schultz Brothers.

Utah gets an Honorable mention for Cael Sanderson. A State so bad with wrestling opportunities they shoved great wrestlers out of the State. So theirs is a backhanded slap as a 'complement'.

I have heard of a 'Backhanded Compliment', but never a 'PimpSlapped Compliment'!

Well Done.

And isn't DT originally from Utah as well?
