Stuart1 2 Report post Posted December 4, 2017 Is this lehigh team the best team they have had in the last 25 years? Are they better than the John Trenge, Rohn, Frick team of the early mid 2000s? They have four high AA guys and the hwt could also aa in a tough weight. Cruz, Parker, Preisch, Kutler and Wood, probably need one more guy to come along to contend for third place this year. lu_alum 920 Report post Posted December 4, 2017 (edited) Remains to be seen. Hard to pick the best, as people slip in/out from year-to-year. But I would like to think most Lehigh folks would point to the Cooperman-Zinck-Letters-Frick class (RS 2002, then 2003-2006) as the benchmark. That core group placed 4-T3-8-T9 in the team race at NCAA. Others that overlapped that group include Mario Stuart, the Ciasulli brothers, Brad Dillon, Jon Trenge, Trevor Chinn... Without Trenge, Lehigh tied tOSU for 3rd at NCAA in 2004. Had Trenge not taken the ORS in 2004, Lehigh would have likely placed ahead of Iowa for 2nd in the team race. Post season lineup that year was: 125: Mario Stuart, NCAA 4, 2x AA 133: Matt Ciasulli, NCAA qualifier, 5-7 in three NCAA appearances. 141: Cory Cooperman, NCAA 7 (pinned in PT), 3x AA 149: Matt Anderson, NCAA qualifier. Tallest, skinniest 149 in NCAA history 157: Derek Zinck, NCAA R12, 2x AA 165: Troy Letters, NCAA 1, 3x AA 174: Brad Dillon, NCAA 4, 2x AA 184: Travis Frick, NCAA 8, 2x AA 197: Matt Cassidy, DNQ, 0-4 in two NCAA appearances. 285: Paul Weibell, DNQ, 3-4 in two NCAA appearances.
