California likely boycotting Ironman

Recommended Posts

No not at all.  The coaches should.    If they don't feel it's worth while, don't go all the way across the country.     How about you, do you feel the coaches should consider this or just go anyways and hope for the best?

Not at all. But the way you phrased it previously made it sound like the impetus should be on the host to guarantee it.

No not at all.  If the host can't guarantee it, the coaches need to weigh it out and decide if going across the country is right for them.     I don't expect a whole lot from the host.

Merry Christmas

Like I said, I'm a little confused.  Got it now.  To do this as a coach would also hurt his the other kids on the team.  This is a great chance to compete in the East and I wouldn't be happy if I couldn't go because one of my teammates had a skin issue and my coach decided to "prove a point".  I can understand his frustrations but this sounds like there are definitely a couple ways to look at it, and the health of all wrestlers is the most important.

I rarely post on this forum but one of my friends pointed me to this thread.

Adam T: I respect you, and not just because of your wrestling credentials, but mainly because of your posts that I’ve read over the years. I’m sure you are incensed by the situation, but I hope you consider some of the objective and reasonable posts on this thread (from gimp, straitsgooter, nom, et al). Perhaps to you and your doctor, there was 100% certainty that Nevills wasn’t infectious, but is it THAT unreasonable to you that tournament administrators and doctor (whether qualified in your opinion or not) seeing his visibly troubling condition for the first time, forced to make a quick decision under pressure, erred on the side of caution, even extreme caution, for the sake of other kids?

I can see how some coaches might ditch the tournament for questionable reffing or something more structurally wrong with the event, but for THIS incident?? That’s just petty and short-sighted. Sorry to say.

Skin but had a letter from a doctor specialist in CA  that it was ok to wrestle . I/M said no.

I don't blame them for leaving.  Of course, when the former management was running Ironman, they didn't really do skin checks.   Years past, Nevills would have been allowed to compete.
