picking the starting weight COULD be as important as the coin flip...

b/c decisions would have to be made earlier or later

How about coaches must submit their dual lineup for every match before the first event of the season. That way no one can manipulate their lineup ever. And if they forfeit a weight they other team gets 100 points for the forfeit.

How about if the coach from the team receiving the fft can correctly guess beforehand which weight the other team is going to fft, they get 742 points?

That will work, I just hope the high school scoreboards can go that high.

I dont want locked lineups.

but the starting weight being random isn't a 'waste' of time... it adds to the strategy needed to bump your lineup around.

Not really. The only thing is changes is coaches needing to figure out whether to pick odd or even bouts for the specific weights drawn.

Not a fan of the locked lineups, but also not a fan of coin flips and the even/odd junk. Has anyone suggested that if no one wants to send their wrestler out first that both coaches must write down the name of their wrestler and give it to the ref/table without knowing who the other coach is writing. Doesn’t have to be before the whole dual. Doing it just before each match would solve a lot of the issues. It would even work with mat side weigh in. Weigh in two guys if you want, just write one name down immediately after.

Sorry if someone else suggested it, didn’t read through the whole thread

How is this really any different from locked lineups (which is a terrible idea IMO, by the way)?

Uhhhhh one you lock in the lineup before the dual starts, the other you lock in each wrestler immediately before each match. It’s just removing the coin toss & making both coaches “announce” at the same time

But if you don’t know who the other team is sending out from the beginning, aren’t most teams just going to wrestle their regular lineups?

Not to mention that “announcing” prior to every weight would be a logistical nightmare

Used to always be that Home was Odd.

Therefore, just pick a weight randomly.

Now, we pick a random weight, then flip the coin randomly.

All in the name of fairness.  Yay!
