Lame speech, no wonder they lost

Recommended Posts

It was awful. Awful by everyone.

These kids have wrestled a thousand matches in their lifetime.

They have wrestled a hundred or more big time matches on their club teams, high school and college. They have won state titles, been to Fargo and most are all Americans.

They know how to get themselves ready for a match and any extra pre match speech is not going to make a difference.

People think of the old Knut Rockne movie too much where you have to make a dramatic speech.

I bet Sanderson just said, "let's go". And without an exclamation point.

This is why I appreciate the fact PSU doesn’t allow this inside access type of stuff. All it leads to is people judging/mocking.

Everyone’s a damned expert now on pregame speeches.

Maybe its just me, but it felt like Ryan was talking more about himself with his "dark places" speech.

Ryan has seen dark places (tragedy).  His wrestlers, probably not so much.  They just looked bewildered.  I think Ryan was projecting.

If wrestlers at that level need a speech to fire them up against their top opponent in a venue with 7000 spectators, there is a problem.

Then what's the purpose of ANY professional sports team coach/manager?  Why have a Tommy Lasorda, Bill Belicheck, or Pat Riley?

Clearly, there is zero need for LeBron to fire up his teammates, or vice versa in front of 30,000 in the stands, and 30 million watching during the NBA Finals.

Your argument is lost on anyone with half a brainstem.
