gowrestle 588 Report post Posted February 11, 2018 Anyone know his status? I wouldn’t be surprised if he does the same at the B1G Tournament similar to what PSU did with their 125 pounder in 2017 just to give him more recovery time.
WillieBoy 628 Report post Posted February 11, 2018 Watching what Cael did with Suriano last year I'm confident he will do what is in the best interest of the long term health of his wrestler - even if it costs the team points. He gave every opportunity for Suriano to wrestle at the big tournament and took the hit without complaint. Rather than risk more injury he gave up the points. We see Suriano doing well this year. Had he been pushed to go out and wrestle while injured he might not have had a career left. Do know some coaches who will push a kid even if it can do permanent harm long term. Hope Nolf makes it back in time, healthy and ready to roll.
cbg 27 Report post Posted February 11, 2018 IMO the NCAA should not allow wrestlers the option of sitting out the qualifier and then accepting a wildcard into the NCAA tournament. Injuries are part of the sport and if a wrestler is not healthy enough to compete in the qualifier they should in no way be given a wildcard. What happened last season with Surriano is unacceptable and only prevented another wrestler the opportunity to attend the big dance. 2 AKHUNTER and BobbyGribbs reacted to this
Stuart1 2 Report post Posted February 11, 2018 Nolf was walking with a slight limp with no crutches per the PSU wrestling forum. I think he will wrestle, just like morningstar did a few years ago, think morningstar was injured even worse. 1 TobusRex reacted to this
Stuart1 2 Report post Posted February 11, 2018 Keaton Anderson had a bad knee injury Ohio State 2002 ncaas, was number two seed, ended up taking sixth. I think suriano could not even walk, i believe he could barely walk to the center of the mat to shake the other guys hand to take his fft at big tens. This maybe a different situation than suriano injury.

TBar1977 3,261 Report post Posted February 11, 2018 People said Nolf was weight bearing last night. Walked around pretty easily. I think he takes the mat and goes 1 second at Bigs and takes a wildcard.

TBar1977 3,261 Report post Posted February 11, 2018 I just re watched the match. You can spot Nolf walking pretty casually with no problem. Someone on PSU board said he walked up the steps easily with no issue there as well.

HurricaneWrestling 1,121 Report post Posted February 11, 2018 Nolf has been doing some light workouts with the track team as part of his rehab. Remarkably, he ran a sub 7-second 60-meter dash a couple of days ago. Coach Gonda has reportedly asked Cael for permission to enter him in the upcoming Big 10 Indoor Track Championships on February 23 and 24. 2 mattchristensen112 and TBar1977 reacted to this

sgallan 592 Report post Posted February 11, 2018 Difference between a knee is you can actually wrestle with a hurt knee if it is a sprain or slight tear. With an ankle, you might get through the match you hurt it in, but after that, in a sport like wrestling, not so much.

dougb 31 Report post Posted February 13, 2018 Not following this anymore, I guess we will see on March 3rd and hopefully March 15-17th, I am sure his competitors want him to be okay, because if they win the title with him not there people would always be saying If Nolf was there healthy you would not have won (also just decency of not wanting to see someone hurt and not able to pursue their dreams, EVEN if it makes the path to your dreams easier). 1 AllISeeIsBronze reacted to this

I don't question Retherford's because Pico went pro. Whoever wins 157 is the champ. 1 Fletcher reacted to this
