Cauliflower 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2018 Ohio State has a ton of fire power in the medal round, while PSU has very low point potential Sat morning. Two questions: 1) Will OSU have the lead heading into finals? 2) if so, will it be big enough?
Housebuye 2,221 Report post Posted March 17, 2018 They can but they need to win the close ones Pletcher vs Brock McKenna vs Jack Moore bs Darmstadt If they get 2/3 and they win the rest besides martin final, it is doable. Hoping it comes down to the finals
Two_on_one 121 Report post Posted March 17, 2018 Ohio State is 11 points behind going into the medal round this morning. They have 6 guys in the conso semis. Each have the ability to score 8.5 more points if they pin their way to third place (4 more points for 3rd place over the 6th place they have already been awarded and 4 points for two pins and 0.5 points for advancing one match). So Ohio State could in theory get 51 more points in this morning's session. Penn State max potential from the medal round is 14.5 points (two guys both winning their 7th place bout by pins gives them 1 point for the 7th place plus 2 points for a pin, and Nick Lee's potential 8.5 points). Obviously there is no way OSU is going to max out their potential points by getting 12 straight pins, but I would be surprised if OSU doesn't lead going into the finals. The equation flips in the finals with PSU's potential points in the finals is 30 points (5 guys x 6 points), while OSU could get a max of 12. Bottom line is the championship is still up for grabs. sgallan 592 Report post Posted March 17, 2018 (edited) 48 possible points for tOSU and 40 for PSU without bonus. Nevill's under performing hurt PSU. tOSU has been killing it in the consolations. It could happen. tOSU would need a good round and PSU would have to lose a couple of finals. Edited March 17, 2018 by sgallan
TBar1977 3,953 Report post Posted March 17, 2018 (edited) Forget the possible bonus. Just watch the first 6 matches. Each one is worth 3.5 of the possible 4.5 they can get. Win 5 or 6 of those and they will have a comfortable lead heading into finals. Edited March 17, 2018 by TBar1977 1 krippler reacted to this

It very well could come down to 184, but that means Snyder wins. It also assumes PSU gets 4 champs at most. 174 and 165 could go either way. 184 is 80% PSU and is obviously the most important one to swing for tOSU Props to PSU. They turned it on as expected in the semis. Their record st the end of this tournament is going to be crazy. 1 xander reacted to this

If Penn State wins this thing with nothing out of 125 and 133 then what can anyone say? Ten vs. Eight, and their ten are awesome. Sanderson is one whale of a coach to even make this competitive. You have a shot next season too but Zain leaving is 28 points. Even if his replacement wins a title (unlikely, but possible), it is still detrimental. You could have AAs at all 10 next season plus have 7 returning AAs and 4 finalists (and possibly 4 champions) The fact that tOSU has 8 AAs, all of whom are 6 or better and they are unlikely to win at this point is absurd.
