iGranby 154 Report post Posted April 6, 2018 (edited) If you're an assistant at a university that is highly successful, you're confident a good deal of that success is due to you, and that the current head coach is still long off from retirement - you're going to look elsewhere eventually. The situation at SDSU is prime for someone who fits that bill, and currently Hahn, and Pritzlaff are the two assistants who seem to keep coming up in head coaching job searches - except that I dont believe Pritzlaff is looking to leave RU just yet. Beazley was another great example of this. He wouldve been a tremendous fit for SDSU, but GM is lucky to have him Edited April 6, 2018 by iGranby

SetonHallPirate 636 Report post Posted April 12, 2018 Clemsen should be considered for the Edinboro job. Agree wholeheartedly. In my worthless opinion, the best assistant coach in the sport right now. 1 Motown98 reacted to this
ResiliteMarine 23 Report post Posted April 15, 2018 PA State schools like Boro, Clarion and Bloom are in financial trouble. It was touched on a year or so ago that one or more programs might be dropped. Might be a good place for Schopp to start? But might not last.
TobusRex 1,328 Report post Posted April 16, 2018 I would not leave Cornell for SDSU. I know you are in between some good recruiting grounds, but holy smokes. I bet you would if SDSU offered you a full ride and Cornell didn't.
Peso 273 Report post Posted April 21, 2018 Coaching wrestling has one very big requirement. Your guys have to believe your stuff is going to work. They realize that today's wrestling is more "different" than the sport has ever been. 50 years ago, the granby was coming through for the 2nd time, and if you knew a hi-c you were ahead of the curve. Athletes that wrestled 30 years ago, would have to have been super involved to even be on the same map as these gentlemen are today. Guys that are still fisting the sky to get a stall call when the handshake is over, are from a different generation. These coaches today should be young and able to get on the mat and make it look real, as part of the job description.
pennsyrules 195 Report post Posted April 21, 2018 (edited) Wrestling has come a ways since the 70's but funny how Cael has brought back the ankle pick and arm drags, fireman's carries, and peterson's can still be effective when those skills are practiced, even at high levels. Gantry 1,357 Report post Posted May 22, 2018 (edited) Yep, plus Big Bruce changing roles and the whole staff joining Flynn - which likely means none of them applied for the job. Edited May 22, 2018 by Gantry

I really want them to be a top 10 team annually. Always rooting for the little guy, guess I have Loch Haven now.
