nyum 235 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 On the most recent FRL all of the guys seemed pretty adamant that Zahid is in fact smaller than Mark and that the idea that he is bigger is more or less perpetuated by the PSU fan base—thoughts?
gowrestle 637 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 My eyes tell me Zahid is bigger than Hall.
Sheerstress 102 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 Zahid is very slender, which sometimes makes him look taller than his 5' 10".
MidwestMauler 1 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 Hall wouldn't be a big 57 pounder.
TobusRex 1,866 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 Zahid looks bigger. The only part of Hall that's bigger is his enormous cranium. 3 scribe, southend and BobbyGribbs reacted to this
steamboat_charlie 727 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 Lol. Zahid isn't sucking tons of weight. Not dissimilar to Bo Jordan. Some of these dudes are just hollow.
Coach_J 2,055 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 Hall has big legs but, man, Zahid looks enormous. Tall, wide back, to me could easily be 184 or even 197 with some weights.
BigRedMachine 210 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 Hall looks smaller than Anthony Robles and he made 125 comfortably.
Sheerstress 102 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 Hall looks smaller than Anthony Robles and he made 125 comfortably. If Anthony Robles had two legs, he probably would have been a 157 pounder.

MSU158 1,547 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 Hall's melon could wrestle 125. Although your head is in the right place, you should have said it would have to cut to make 125, considering it is the lowest weight class and "melon" could therefor be considerably less than that! 1 xander reacted to this

PRyan2012 343 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 On any other team Hall would be wrestling 165. In their senior careers Zahid will be 174/189. Hall will be 163 where he won his world titles. I even think he could make 154 if he had to. Hall was just that good that he didn't cut weight because he was the best-never had to. There is an obvious size difference. It was not always that way though with them growing up. They may not wrestle ever again if Zahid goes to 184 next season. Zahid and Bo are the exact same size. Look at their NCAA title picture. 174, 184 and 197 champs all look the exact same size.

wiedsworld 14 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 I thought Hall said he would never wrestle 74 kg againyou are correct. Hall stated the cut is too much for him and he would never wrestle 74K again
CA_Wrestler 240 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 Hall's melon could wrestle 125. That's for sure. That's why people say Hall looks small. His dome is gigantic compared to his body, proportion-wise, so it makes his body look much smaller than it really is. 1 scribe reacted to this
xander 346 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 (edited) The human head weighs 8 pounds. Source: that little kid in the movie jerry maguire. GoNotQuietly 897 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 If the guy kills himself to make 74kg what makes you think he could make 165 for a full college season. Hall is a 174 pounder plain and simple. If what others here say is true, and Hall doesn’t cut ever, any cut would probably feel like he is killing himself subjectively. That said, cutting hard is stupid. Zahid looks monsterous, but he doesn’t carry as much in his hips and legs, so it’s hard to tell how much he is cutting. Has anyone ever seen his face drawn out and zombified? I don’t recall ever seeing it
Billyhoyle 1,988 Report post Posted March 31, 2018 Zahid has had a lot of success at 84 kg, so I have to figure he is cutting hard to make 74 kg. He also looked a weight class above Hall in the finals. It's possible he just has excellent discipline in terms of dieting to maintain a low body fat percentage and isn't cutting much in the week before his weigh ins. Either way, I think Hall's best bet to make the team is to go 74 kg and hope father time finally catches up to JB. Don't see him beating Zahid at 79 kg. george 4 Report post Posted April 1, 2018 I was talking to some PSU parents at NCAAs. I commented about how big Valencia looks and how he must cut a ton. They said Penn State kids who have worked out with the Valencia's during offseason were surprised that he really does not cut a ton of weight. They said he was much closer to competition weight than anyone would guess.
headshuck 2,208 Report post Posted April 1, 2018 Sounds like a discipline thing. Congrats continue.
LemonPie 1,368 Report post Posted April 1, 2018 If you believe track's certification info, both Hall and Valencia weighed over 184. Probably similar in weight.

It could be a discipline issue but it could also be that the cut is just too much. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt. Some guys are just some compact mofos. I would bet that's the case with mark but who knows.
