Coach Morningstar???

Recommended Posts

One of the names mentioned as a possible Bono-replacement at South Dakota State is current Iowa assistant Ryan Morningstar....In my opinion, this would be a huge step backwards for a program seemingly on the rise, am I missing something here or would Morningstar be a suitable head coach for the Jackrabbits??

Thanks and take care.

How many coaches that are actively looking will be a step up from Bono?

I think a lot of people see/have seen Hahn as a sleeping giant in regard to his potential as a head coach. So when you compare him to someone like Morningstar (who is honestly probably a great coach), Morningstar probably just seems like more of a "risk", or is more unproven.

Hahn is probably a better hier. I respect him a lot and anyone with that long of a tenure under Koll should know how to run a program. M* does seem to have recruiting chops and the Brands really love him. I would be curious to see who he brought on board for assistants.

I think it's a mistake to reflect too much on his wrestling career. Look what pat pop has done. He was no world beater, but is a fantastic coach.

He needs more RTC money and NC State can really start making some recruiting noise instead of developing talent passed up by the B1G....

What do the Iowa fans think of Morningstar as a coach? My impression was that the sentiment was sorta lukewarm, like he was wearing out his welcome, and that maybe switching him out for someone like Metcalf or McD would be a good idea. He seems to be a very good coach though, maybe not by Iowa dynasty standards or to KMF's liking but the development and results have been good.

Misinformed - Metcalf is in the rearview mirror; Mark Perry is next up. Think it's an accident that Zadick, St. John, and Metcalf left? Iowa is moving in another direction.
