TBar1977 4,539 Report post Posted April 27, 2018 He's bigger than Varner, but he's not 280 or even 270. Hoping to see Varner vs Coon in the finals. I believe you will get your wish. Just my pov.
PRyan2012 347 Report post Posted April 27, 2018 Both Coon and Varner could lose their semis but if they win Coon will get another Lt Heavyweight Olympic champ in the finals. He likes to wrestle those guys in the finals:-) Coon should beat Varner should win it.
MNRodent 228 Report post Posted April 27, 2018 He looked pretty big just watching that match. At least 270.Just surprised to see Varner turning the big boys. Nelson is in the 250's

gimpeltf 2,075 Report post Posted April 27, 2018 Varner passed his first test against a 280 pounder top guy winning 5-1 over Nelson. Varner is actually getting a bunch of turns in his three matches against the big guys. I thought would be his weakness. They must have played with the scale since the limit is 125kg (275 lbs)

kad 6 Report post Posted April 27, 2018 Nelson had worked hard to bulk up for his senior season when he was reportedly 6'4" 260lb. http://www.gophersports.com/sports/m-wrestl/spec-rel/010814aaa.html I would be surprised if he wasn't at least that now. He hit 260 the preseason of his senior year, but I doubt he's been that since.

Cletus_Tucker 890 Report post Posted April 29, 2018 Nice seeing Varner in the final. Tough bout with Coon, but having them both in there really toughens up the weight. Good for USA wrestling
sgallan 592 Report post Posted April 29, 2018 You can think he weighs whatever you want, but that doesn't change the fact that he is under 260. True, but he has the leverage and length to compete under 260. What he doesn't have is the strength, lungs, and pressure, to make up for the weight disadvantage (#Kyle Snyder).
