Mr. Hall has a shirt as well as Mr. Lee!!!

If they both redshirt, it makes it highly unlikely PSU will win Nationals. No way they forfeit when they are the heavy favorites

I think they will concede at 125 but not 133:

125: Schnupp/Teske Redshirt

133: Young/Teasdale Redshirt

141: Lee

149: Berge/Verk

157: Nolf

165: Joseph

174: Hall

184: Rasheed

197: Nickal

285: Nevills/Cassar

This line up does a ton of damage in Pittsburgh.

I don’t buy a lot of the rumors of Bo going up. So I’ll take a shot.

125 Teasdale
133 RBY
141 N Lee
149 Berge
157 Nolf
165 Cenzo
174 Hall
184 Bo
197 Shak
285 Nevills

RBY may live in Colorado next year. Cassar is walking around at 220lbs or so.

Assuming Cassar can get to 230-235 lbs., can he challenge Nevills ?

Cassar will give up some if his conditioning edge by carrying weight he otherwise wouldn't. Nevills has nearly mastered the tortoise and the hare race, as some heavies do. Unless Cassar can turn him or take him into OT, I think Nevills wins most, but not all of the wrestle-offs.

The one option I have a seen anyone talking about is Rasheed going down to 174. I believe he was weighing in around 192 last year so it doesn’t sound that far-fetched. I would think he’d be a better option there than manville...seems to be more of a Greco specialist. He was a 174 or lighter till this season and moved up two weight classes due to having two national champions ahead of him.

Also, I think it makes sense that Hall and nickal could be moving up just due to the fact that they didn’t compete in freestyle. Taking time to bulk up would be a great reason to skip the freestyle season. Unless kollin Moore returns to 2017 form, there is nobody that can even push Bo at 197. If Hall is thinking olympics in 2020 He needs to bulk up into a 184 immediately.

I don't think Rasheed can make 174 under any circumstances.

Walking around in the offseason 23 over is not a huge deal at 197 if you take into account not having any weigh-ins until November (i.e. not needing to make any freestyle/greco scales). I would assume he can lean down and make weight five months from now no problem.

Down from 220 to 197.  Yes that can be a tough way to go. Got to have lots of discipline. Some folks around who can help, such as mat partners.

A cheering section ?   : )  Although 23 pounds over several months is certainly doable.

Or is Bo to big?

Are you serious?  It's summer.  I didn't cut much, but I remember wrestlers on my team walking around 20-30 pounds over in the offseason if they didn't have to compete, and that was at way lower weights than 197.  He probably cut from 210-215 in the first place, so if he has planned to bulk up for HWY this isn't abnormal whatsoever.

Someone else suggested it would be smart for Bo to bump to 197 with Valencia going 184.  Clearly Valencia is superior at freestyle, though Bo's probably underrated, as he did better than expected last summer and has improved since overall.  I think there's no chance Bo factors any opponent into his calculus whether to move up or not, especially considering it's folkstyle.  Nickal's tall but his frame isn't quite Quentin Wright's seemingly.  I agree he'd do very well at 197 and would be my pick for the title, but I'll have to see it to believe it, still assuming 184.

I've seen Bo in person and he is a lot bigger than he looks on TV.  I was quite surprised at how big he was and this was the 2016-2017 season when he first moved to 184lbs.  This is why I've always laughed at the "noodle arms" quote about him.

Guess I'm different that most. I despised pulling weight, and refused to do it after my 7th grade year ended. I wrestled whatever weight I was walking around at.  I never got fat back in those days because I was a hard working farmboy when it wasn't wrestling/football season, so I had a built in advantage anyway.

The idea of walking around at 223 and pulling to 197 seems pretty extreme to me: burning off over 10% of one's body weight. I never respected the guys who were continually running around in plastics and eating Ex-Lax, having guys spank their feet and spitting in cans. I always thought they were irresponsible and undisciplined. I watched those guys pig out every holiday and come back to practice fat.  That said, yeah, it's pretty common to see guys getting fat and having to pull back down. I don't like it, and never will.

I think Cael was smaller than Bo when he made the jump to 197 his Senior year. If it's overall best for the team, I think he makes the jump. If Rasheed can AA high then it maybe worth it. Still think Bo wins at 197.

Bo Nickal at 197 wins the weight handily including beating Moore with bonus points. The tougher match would be against Zahid if he moves up to 184.

I’m not so sure Bo bonuses Moore

I know Moore looked bad at times this past season, but he was constantly battling injuries. If he is healthy, he will give Bo some trouble.

I might have to pick Bo given how good he is on top and how consistent he has been, but this isn’t a squash match.

Zahid definitely beats Bo. Not a good style matchup for Bo at all. That isn’t much of a knock on Bo - I think Zahid has a great shot at having 1 loss in college if he stays healthy, even if he bumps up to the stacked 184 class in 18/19

People pick Bo by bonus way too much. You want to call a fall, I can see it. But, if he doesn't catch u with a big move, he isn't a run the score up guy like Nolf or Retherford was.

This is evidenced by the fact that he has 1 TF all season. He is one hell of a dangerous guy because he can put you on your back from anywhere, but he isn't a 7-8 takedown type guy.
