Eslinger Resigns

Recommended Posts

Did he leave coaching to become a pastor? The article is a bit vague and confusing-it says he has an opportunity to be a religious type public speaker/coach.  What does that mean?

He's going to work for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes

I agree an experienced and credentialed strength coach would do better with the strength and conditioning of the team than an elite wrestler without those skills. However, someone like J'Den Cox could add a lot more to the program. The biggest thing would be recruiting... Big names = big recruits. Recruiting is the single most important ingredient to a teams success. Strength training is important but not even close to recruiting, technique, and the mental aspect. Cox could provide all of the latter.

I think you are on the wrong thread

Pretty certain Jordan Leen will be a great Head Coach but I don’t think it will happen at UTC...pretty certain his father poisoned that well a long time ago.

Right... IDK if Jordan would want that job anyway

It will be interesting to see who UTC hires as the new head coach.  Kyle Ruschell was named the interim head coach and former UTC head coach Ethan Reeve was an assistant coach last season.  Would 2008 UTC All-American Cody Cleveland be considered for the position?  Who knows what UTC will do.  Does anyone definitely know if UTC fully funds the NCAA allotted 9.9 wrestling scholarships?

Ok I’ll take the job

My last company was based in chattanooga. I know the city well. I got this.

Just take the job for $0 and split the head coaching salary among your other coaches to attract some high level assistants... you can probably handle the admin side of things in your free time.

How about Phil Simpson? He was an NCAA finalist for West Point. Simpson is from Tennessee.

Philip Simpson is from Nashville and he has a great career going not to mention he is around his family (9 siblings) all the time.  I find it hard to believe that UTC would pay him what he needs to make and even harder to believe that he would move to Chattanooga.

I’d totally do that if they would let me and I had any confidence I could do the job well
